Qualification Battle - Introduction
After several talks about the up-coming seventeenth edition, the IBU is ready to present their new solution.
Qualification Battles!
What does that mean?
As having too many participants to give equal chances to the semi-finalists to qualify to the final, the IBU decided to introduce the Qualification Battles. Normally, 12 countries participate at the qualifcation battles. That means the bottom 6 from each semi-final has to join the qualification battles. If there are withdrawing countries, no country will replace their spot.
The last of SF1 will play against the last of SF 2; the pre-last of SF 1 against the pre-last of SF2 etc. The 6 winners of each duel will be in the semi-finals. The 6 non-winners will not be able to join the semi-finals. They are able to vote in the final though (if that will be forced is unsure yet). They will automatically start in the semi-finals in the up-coming edition.
