Iceland's interest in Northvision increases
The Icelandic Audiovisual Council has released a generic graph about the viewers of the Northvision Song Contest in the country. The interest has had a dramatic fall since the second edition and until the 5th edition, when RUV didn't broadcast the events and a lot of Northfans in the little island had to watch it online. A slight increase was registered in the period of the sixth edition and nowadays with the HoD change and with the huge promotion campaign (including adverts, fan-shops and Sรถngvakeppnin) the viewers expected for the NVSC #7 final are more or less around 50.000, which would make the current edition the second most-followed one after NVSC #2, when the contest was held in Reykjavik. Actually for the current edition, about 18.000 viewers were watching Unnur Eggerts performing on stage last Monday, and 10.000 people are expected to watch the Second Semifinal LIVE.
What does this mean?
RUV might take this chance, and will probably confirm for the next edition of the Northvision Song Contest, but nothing is sure yet, as the Head of Delegation didn't give any sign of a possible role in the next edition. Probably the broadcaster is waiting for some more money for promoting the next possible representant, but again, nothing is known yet. Rรญkisรบtvarpiรฐ should confirm as soon as possible if everything goes well, as more than half of the countries already confirmed for the next edition. |
