Kathleen Slater's critiques
Good afternoon slags. This was a round of three halves, which made for a Beth Ditto sized mess. This was the round that I thought would distinguish the contenders from the flops, and interestingly, the people I thought would deliver the most from this round are the people who really didn't, and vice versa. What is nice to see, however, is that the general level of originality was much, much better - and even the more mainstream songs this round weren't hugely mainstream in comparison to the earlier rounds.Aless BrasilThis song was certainly powerful, and the video was certainly sad. But here lies the problem - the lyrics are more empowering than sad. Maybe they were lost in translation and if so I apologise and that's why I'm not really going to punish it. Another solid entry and at this point you're probably the most consistent in the competition.Dinah LoveThis... benefits from a personal connection, I guess? My 11 year-old self wouldn't allow me to hate this as an entry and so here we are. One of the more unoriginal songs this round for sure, but even so it's not as unoriginal as other entries have been over the competition, and definitely not as obvious, and it fit the theme pretty well.FashiongoreAgain, fairly unoriginal, but I wouldn't say it was a strikingly obvious choice. In fact, I appreciated that there was a bit of a risk taken with this - it didn't give off the sad vibe straight away, and because of that, it stood out. That being said, this was a strong week where many of the songs hit the theme and were a lot more original, and I'm not so sure that this really hit the theme of sadness all that well.Jenea OrangéThis unfortunately had a glaring flaw - it wasn't sad. Unless there's a huge misinterpretation on my part, this was a fairly empowering song that didn't really have a sad vibe to it. Emotional, yes, but not particularly sad. I appreciate the originality and thought that was behind this, but I do think that you missed the mark theme wise. Junia HallowOf the three non-English songs this round, this was easily the most suitable to the theme, and probably the most original too. Sad song, sad video, never come across the song or the artist, this nailed the theme and gave us exactly what we were looking for.LefterianaYour journey in the competition has been the messiest and also probably the best. And this is a perfect example of that - a really, really good choice with a song that really stood out, wasn't obvious or unoriginal in any way and just really nailed the task. With this you have really cemented your position as a contender in this competition.

Julia Lux' CritiquesAlêss Brasil Aless In this week's challenge I think you sent a decent entry. It is indeed an emotional song and the music video underlines the dramatics. However, I feel like you confused "emotional" with "sad". If I don't look at the music video, I'd perceive your song as the "I won't give up" type of song, which isn't necessarily my idea of a sad song. Nevertheless, your entry is a great ballad and you are lucky that the song has a sad music video and obviously a sad background story. Fashiongore alex(a)bg I think your entry this week was a hit and miss. Personally, I never perceived Dancing On My Own as really sad. Sure, the story the song tells is an unfortunate one and as someone who has been in the described situation I can see what you were going for, but I personally just never felt really sad whenever I listened to this song. Maybe it's the repetitive melody or the not-so-sad style of singing, it just doesn't have an effect on me. Besides all of that, the song really is not an original choice and I think you could've gone a lot further than what you presented us tonight. Dinah Lone Dimitris I honestly didn't know what to tell you at first. All of the four judges have been asking for originality for three weeks straight so I fail to understand how you got to perceive this song, one of the most overused Australian song contest entries, to be a good choice, especially in a category where originality was crucial. We write the critiques in order to help you progress, not because we have too much time on our hands and nothing better to do, so it frustrates me that some people act like they never read the critiques. If we look past the originality issue, your song surely has a sad story to tell but maybe it's just the way the whole song is build up, but I am kinda bored of songs like these and I think there have been much sadder songs this week. I don't know, songs about relationship issues just don't make me emotional. And I hardly doubt that this was the best song you could find for this week, honestly. If you survive I hope you can turn this around, because so far this surely is your lowest point in this competition darling. Junia Hallow Apostolis This week you gave us one of the few actually sad songs. I think this song stands out compared to the other non-english songs because even through the english translation I could understand why you perceive this song to be sad. I also think the topic of your song was probably the saddest this week, it had nothing empowering about it, nothing that made me say "girl stop crying, it's not that dramatic", I just listened and read the lyrics and I understood her pain. I hope you can keep this pace up and the other participants should take a look at this and take inspiration. Jenea Orangé Jens Again, you served one of the most original songs this week. However, compared to last week, I don't think your song really fits to this challenge. As I told Alêss before, this song surely is emotional but is it really sad? Maybe the real meaning of the song got lost in translation, I sadly don't speak Dutch and had to rely on the English translation, but I found this song rather empowering and motivational and couldn't see anything about it that made me feel sadness. Despite all that, I find it very good that you keep trying to send original entries and that you actually listen to our critiques, compared to some other participants. Lefteriana LᴇꜰI honestly didn't expect you to slay this challenge but my wig has been missing ever since I heard your song. You absolutely nailed this weeks' challenge, better than anyone else in my opinion. Your song alone sounds amazing and I could see myself listening to it every now and then and additionally, it also really touched me. I think everyone who lost a loved one can relate to this song and to me it also felt like an actually sad topic and not some relationship dramas that others thought could be considered as "saddest songs". Your entry was the only entry who actually made me feel sad even after the song ended. I hope you can nail the next challenge again and I'm already looking forward to your entry!

Callum's Critiques
This week must suck if you follow the code of Little Mix. This week was a definite marked improvement from last week, but it wasn't as much of an improvement as I had hoped for.

Matter Teresa's Critiques!Category is... A room of disappointments
Jenea Orange Jens O wow. I can see where you were going with this song, but I don't feel sad after listening to it. Emotional yes. Sad? ehh no. I feel like you could've found something much more sad. I do commend you on your originality however, but a better song choice was need my dear.
Fashiongore alex(a)bg Ok so. This song is a BOP. However is it sad? Hell no! Its nowhere close to sad. I am looking for something really emotional here, and you haven't brought it at all. After such a strong performance so far, I am really disappointed with what you have come up with Fashiongore. Truly expected something better from you.
Dinah Lone Dimitris Why. Do you even read these? Do you like care about this competition? Cause I really don't think you do. For me, you've completely missed the mark on this challenge. We have sad since this started that we would acknowledge originality, especially this week. So what do you do? Send such an overused song that I physically cringed. Yes it somewhat is sad, but really its just a travesty. Especially since you where in the bottom 2 last week and you pull this? Not impressed
Lefteriana Lᴇꜰ We love a redemption arc! Truly you have come put of your shell here and I am very impressed. This song is VERY sad and even though I knew you would send this, I still think you've completely outdone your competition this week. Truly you are on a roll now and I am very curious to see what you do next!
Junia Hallow Apostolis Another good song by you Junia! You should be proud of this entry indeed. It was sad and actually made me feel something, which for me is very difficult. I felt the emotion and the pain. Good job!
Aless Brasil Aless I still don't know how to feel about this song. Like yes it feel emotional. But for me, there is a disconnect that I can't get over. Something is off about this and I don't really know what though. I do appreciate the originality, so that scores with me.
