It's like: "Miki, if you want to represent to Spain, you must sign this contract sent by TVE. If you sign the contract, you must cancel all perfomances in Catalonia" I'm feel bad for Maruv, I was not attracted to the first listenings, but it seemed like a good choice

Also it looks like Russia and Ukraine will be the new Armenia and Azerbaijan where they will blank each other on purpose.

Forgive me for writing about Ukraine from Russia. This is uncomfortable for me, but I want to speak. What they did during their selection is nonsense. They said, their politicians said, that the representative of the country should not have connections with Russia (concerts, relatives). The problem is that ALL the finalists have connections with Russia. Someone gave concerts in Moscow, someone has a russian passport, someone even has awards. In my country, no one would have paid attention to this, also same for the other european countries. But in today's Ukraine it has become a black mark. And the Jamala's question "Crimea is Ukraine?". What is this? What does it mean for a song contest? For your information, she’s parents now live in the Crimea, have russian passports, and she performed in 2015 (after the ukrainian “revolution”) in Russia, in Sochi. Here is an example of hypocritical "patriotism". According to rumors, Freedom Jazz will refuse to represent Ukraine.

The whole situation is very messy anyway. While I'm absolutely disappointed that the best entry of 2019 (imo) is now gone, I'm glad MARUV didn't accept this stupid contract that is essentially stripping her freedom away from her. I mean imagine having to get permission from the broadcaster to talk to certain journalists? I'm glad she didn't accept it because she'd essentially be enslaving herself as the broadcaster is very controlling. I understand there's tension between Russia and Ukraine, but you can't stop artists from travelling there and giving concerts. Imagine that you sign a contract and you're not able to perform in Russia for the future? Very disappointing in my view. I doubt the other artists would accept such a deal, because they're essentially losing such a large base for themselves. And unfortunately yet again there's politics involved in the contest... it's quite a shame that the EBU can't intervene because this should be classed as breaking the rules. Honestly, at this stage I hope Ukraine withdraws. Not because I'm salty over MARUV not participating or the fact that none of their other NS acts stand a chance (let's be real here), but they essentially wasted money on a national selection where the public voted and the winner was fair, only for those votes to be wasted in the end. They essentially ruined this year for themselves and honestly I'd rather they withdrew because that was a ridiculous move
