Rules Thread
1. Players
1.1. A forum account is required. A user can compete from a different platform under request, provided that they have an account at least.
1.2. There's not a limit on posts anymore, however completely new accounts won't be let in. This rule is to avoid fake, second and inactive accounts.
2. Entries
2.1. (Junior) Eurovision (Asia) entries aren't allowed to participate.
2.2. (J)E(A)SC National Selections' aren't allowed either starting #8.
2.3. OSF National Selection entries are allowed.
2.4. A song that previously participated in OSF isn't allowed.
2.5. Entries from other contests such as Turkvision are allowed.
2.6. Covers aren't allowed to participate.
2.7. A remix/revamp is allowed to take part as long as the original singer is featured.
2.8. You can select your entrant either internally or by a national selection. You don't have to send them for approval, but it is recommended to do so if you doubt about it or want to make a National Selection (to avoid your starting a NS with non-valid entries).
2.9. Overused in the forum entries are forbidden. (If you are unsure, please use the 'Search' feature of the forums. We'll consider a song is overused if we see it competed in more than 5 contests).
2.10. Song was published on or after 2010.
3. Artists
3.1. Artist must have been at least 17 years old at the date the song was published. Singers younger than that can take part in JOSF. A singer who took part in OSF already can't take part in JOSF with a song they performed younger.
3.2. An artist must be strongly connected to the country they want to represent. (citizenship, living and working there for a significant amount of time, represented them at ESC, has a heritage of atleast 50% from that country etc. Anyway, the council will determine if the connections are legitimate.)
3.3. An artist must be a human.
3.4. An artist must be alive.
3.5. When it comes to groups, combined heritage should be atleast ~50%, or the group is somehow connected to the country. Exceptions can be made, once again it's the council that has the final say.
3.6. Very overused/famous artists are not allowed to compete.
4. Countries
4.1. A country must be a UN-Member.
4.2. Non-UN-Members allowed:
Palestinian Territories |
Kosovo |
Hong Kong SAR |
Macau |
Greenland |
Faroe Islands |
Taiwan |
Puerto Rico |
Aland Islands |
Vatican City |
Sealand Antarctica |
5. Borrowing
Due to these countries' small music industries, they are allowed to send singers from neighbouring nations. With conditions.
5.1. The singer must be approved of by the lending nation.
5.2. If the lending nation isn't taken, then the borrowing nation can't borrow from there.
Borrowing nation: Lending nation:
Andorra Spain ( Catalonia only)
Greenland Denmark
Liechtenstein Austria; Switzerland (German speakers only) Luxembourg Belgium
Monaco France
San Marino Italy
Sealand England only
6. Replacement votes & DQ6.1. Replacers can send to the person who took over voting duties their Top 11.
6.2. Completely new accounts can't replace.
6.3. The first set of replacement votes goes to the first person who asked for it.
6.4. If all people who asked for get replacement sets, the next ones will go to the countries with the biggest placement.
6.5. If replacement votes can't be provided, you'll be disqualified from the results.
7. Strikes
7.1. You can receive 1 strike for:
7.1.1. Failing to submit an entry while having confirmed.
7.1.2. Failing to vote within the given deadline.
7.1.3. The strikes will be removed if a very important reason is provided within 10 days time (being busy isn't a valid excuse).
7.2. You can receive 1 or more strikes if: (and these strikes aren't going away)
7.2.1. You insult/bully someone.
7.2.2. You cheat or even attempt to cheat on the contest.
7.2.3. An action that may put the contest in danger.
With 1 strike, your nation will become free, but you can reconfirm (with it).
With 2 strikes, you'll be forced to withdraw for one edition.
With 4 strikes, you'll be forced to withdraw for 2 editions.
With 6 strikes, you'll be banned forever.
8. Loopholing, unclarities and rule changes
If any of the above happens, always remember; we are not machines, sometimes rules don't cover 100% of potential scenarios, and the council has the final say on all the rules of the contest. However, if any inconvenience is caused by such case, then the council may update the set of rules to prevent similar inconveniences from happening again, as well as you may be given things like deadline extensions etc.
