I guess this is the place to introduce myself.
The Dr is for having a PhD: please don't bring me your sicknesses as all I can give you is sympathy . . .
J is really my first initial (the rest of my name is classified).
I thought Dr J was a good name for a DJ (which I'm not) or a gangsta rapper (which I'm also not) but maybe suitable for a forum about modern music.
I used this handle on wiwibloggs but will never go there again since they deleted my comment for no reason.
Because of my Social Science PhD, I tend to apply research methods to song contests. For example, in Junior Eurovision, I don't look at how cute the contestant is or whether the song makes me jump around. I look at the contestant's Instagram following (Valentina's secret weapon) and where his/her televotes are likely to come from (if you are a JESC contestant and your mother is Italian, yes, Italians and Maltese identify with you and are likely to vote for you, especially if they don't have a candidate from Italy in the contest). I also like to study the contestants' (actually their national broadcasters') strategies to get them to win. From all of this, I like to make proposals to improve the contests because I think they are mostly commercial rubbish now and the children are being packaged by the broadcasters.
So let's have a musical seminar, peeps!
