My top 20 of Söngvakeppnin 20231. Úlfar - Impossible A beautiful ballad. In this version I also enjoy his vocals although they're slightly leaning towards the annoying side.
2. Bragi - Stundum snýst heimurinn gegn þér Generally a good pop song. He's a good voice although I find it very annoying in the chorus.
3. Móa - Glötuð ást This is beautiful. Also I like her voice although it sounds better in the English version.
4. Móa - Lose this dream I absolutely love her voice here. Clearly the best vocals of all 19 songs. The song itself is beautiful to me, but probably boring to other people.
5. Silja Rós & Kjalar - Ég styð þína braut Another beautiful ballad, but this time with a special instrumentation. And I love their voices and how they go together.
6. Bragi - Sometimes the World's Against You This version too is a modern pop song. However here it has not too much going on and the chorus is repeated too many times. Overall, I can't say that it's a bad entry, though. In the English version I found his voice to be different from what I expected it to be.
7. Silja Rós & Kjalar - Together We Grow I find this to be somewhere between boring and beautiful. Luckily it gets saved by the second part.
Unlike in the Icelandic version, the singer's voices don't go together that well and are somewhat strenuous.
8. Benedikt - Brave Face Okay, so first of all, his voice does NOT sound like what I expected it to judging from the thumbnail. I'm not saying that it's unpleasant, on the other hand, yet gets on my nerves over a 3 minutes song ... Benedikt's entry isn't bad and I like both the beat as well as the lyrics, but neither particularly good.
9. Sigga Ózk - Dancing Lonely It's a bit generic and I'm not a fan of the changing rhythm in the chorus.
10. Benedikt - Þora Here I like the beat and its somewhat retro sound. Just like I had already written above, he's got a unique, yet straining voice.
11. Celebs - Doomsday Dancing Another song with an old-school influence. It sounds quite funny and is probably an entry we have to fully judge after seeing it live because in the studio version it's not it.
12. Kristín Sesselja - Terrified Kristín has an impressive voice imo, but sadly an unremarkable entry.
13. Diljá - Lifandi inni í mér This song is quite okay, but guess that's about it, I fear. Diljá can sing for sure, although at parts it sounds rather like screaming to me. What I particularly like here, though, is the inclusion of a choir in the chorus.
14. Kristín Sesselja - Óbyggðir A beautiful voice, but a sadly - also in the Icelandic version - unremarkable song ... Also this is probably controversial, but I kinda felt like Icelandic might hinder this song.
15. Langi Seli & Skuggarnir - OK Oh, that's an unsual Eurovision entry. It's rock-ish, but includes some folk elements. if I heard that correctly. The rock part is also old-school, but sadly it's too powerless ...
16. Úlfar - Betri maður In spite of the English version of this song being on top of this list, the Icelandic one doesn't get me at all. In fact I find it just boring. On a positive note it's chorus is catchy.
17. Celebs - Dómsdags dans It sounds hilarious, but also very chaotic. And not in a good way!
18. Diljá - Power Well ... The girl can sing, but the song is just there. On one hand I'm sad about it, but on the other hand I'm not because it's musically mainly consisting of that bass.
19. Sigga Ózk - Gleyma þér og dansa I'm not a fan of her voice here while there's not much happening in the full song making it lenghty.
Honestly, I like this NS at this point!
