  Wiikuus is  Evämaa's weekly news program that is broadcast every Sunday night. Each week, a summary of the news in Evämaa will be posted here so that Evämaians abroad in Fantasia can keep track of the events at home. This will also be where most news about the Fantasia Contest is released, unless there's a surprise announcement.   URGENT NEWS Evämaian Defense Force to increase ranks, begin a system of conscription.Due to recent rising tensions with flagflirkmasto Flírkmasto, the Puolustihmistet (Evämaian Defense Force) has announced that a new system of conscription will be enacted. From today on, any Evämaian with a national identification number between 000-aaa-000 and 299-zzz-999 will be required to report to the capital of their Maani and register for national service. Evämaians will be expected to help out their country in this time of need. However, conscientious objectors will have the opportunity to declare themselves as such. They will have to relocate elsewhere, though. Evämaa's partners in the North Easton Union ( Fordia, Lanovina, and Seneraya) have announced that they will relax visa requirements for those Evämaians who will be relocating at this time.
"In today's Fantasia, the people of Evämaa need to be more vigilant about the security of their country than ever" said Launo Taistella, the general of the Puolustihmistet. "That's why we're asking everyone to help in any way they can. Even if it's just in a small position, the small efforts of all Evämaians will be of great importance to the country as a whole."

Evämaa fails to qualify in Crystallfall
After sending the "queen of Evämaian pop," Chisu and Evämaa failed to make it to the top 12 of the first semi-final of the inaugural Fantasia Contest. The failure was met with widespread disappointment, as many across the country took to social media to express their disappointment over the lackluster result. Telemaa has confirmed for the second edition of Fantasia Contest, despite rumors stating otherwise.
President Niinisalo reopens talks with Flírkmasto
On Wednesday, President Topi Niinisalo met with the leader of Flírkmasto and discussed the reasoning behind Evämaa's sudden defense boost along the western border. President Niinisalo stated that the head of the Puolustihmistet had advised him to act in a precautionary way; no threat had been made against Evämaian sovereignty. The draft will continue but it was agreed that the new conscripts would undertake positions such more akin to community service.
Jäädia Ylinliiga season kicks off in Midimeri
The premier ice hockey (jäädia in Evämaen) league in Evämaa, the Ylinliiga, opened today to a crowd of 15,000 at the Suojakoroke Arena in Midimeri. Last season's champions, Kaukaisle Yhdistynyt, faced off against Midimeri Jääkluubi to begin the season. The home team won 3-0. |
