Sweden has confirmed participation in Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Sweden selected song and artist through their regular national selection called "Melodifestivalen". The artist and song was decided on March 10, 2012. The 2012 selection remained similar to the successful format used in 2011 but with a few small changes. Once again a total of 32 songs competed for the trip to Baku. 1 of the entries was selected through an online voting called "Webbjokern" to which anyone could upload a song online. 16 of the songs were selected by a jury from all the submitted entries. 15 of the songs were sent in by specially invited song writers.Two songs from each semi-final went on to the final. There were two rounds of voting in each semi-final. In the first round, the 5 most voted songs went on to the second round. In the second round of voting, the 2 mosted voted songs went on to the final, the 3rd and 4th place went on to the second chance (Andra Chansen), and the 5th placed was eliminated from the competition.
In the second chance, 2 of the 8 qualified for the final, making it 10 in the final.
