Education in Dyria
Normally, the vast majority of students go into BĂșnscoilĂĄ, or Primary School, by the time they are 7 years of age. Prior to that, there is Junior & Senior infants, of which students are around 5-6 years old upon completion. If any parents wish to send their children to MaidinskĂłli (Morning school - CrĂ©che) then they do so.
Up until 2nd class, some schools are mixed. However, when 2nd class begins, boys would go to an all boy's school, and girls to an all girl's school. However, not all schools operate this way and many Dyrian schools are mixed.
In BĂșnscoilĂĄ, there is 1st-6th class. Most students will graduate BĂșnscoilĂĄ by the time they are 12. In BĂșnscoilĂĄ, Irsan, Dyrian, Engju and Mathematics must be thought. Geography, History are extra areas of study that fall into the school curriculum and also must be thought. Though, there are all-Dyrian language schools in Dyria, even to those who use Irsan or Engju as their first language wish to get their children thought through Dyrian.
Then, when BĂșnscoilĂĄ is finished, students move onto Efriscoile (Secondary school). In the first 3 years, Engju, Irsan, Dyrian, Geography, Maths, Science, History and a foreign language must be taken. The foreign language can be either Allemanju, Frajisian, Espaneole. Some schools only offer the latter two, and some only 1. Additionally, students must take an optional subject - this can be Art/Music/Technology/Business Studies. At the end of 3rd year, students do state exams. Many students will not do 4th year, it's rather a transition or gap year. In the last two years of education, students have to take Engju, Irsan, Dyrian and Mathematics. They then have to take 3 optional subjects, which can be Business, Accounting, Agricultural Science, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Frajisian, Allemanju, Espaneole, History, Technology, Art and Music. In some cases, students may be able to choose religion as a subject. Most universities in Dyria require a foreign language, regardless if you'll study it or not.
Subjects can be taken at higher or ordinary level. Only Irsan and Mathematics can be taken at foundation level (and most universities do not accept foundation level points). And just to mention, Dyrian universities use points gained from final state exams in 6th year to determine courses.
ExemptionsThe only exemptions available are from Dyrian or Irsan, however only one can be exempt per student who is eligible. This is only applicable to students who came into Dyria at the age of 10 or older. Students who arrived before that age are considered to be living in Dyria for a long enough period, and so cannot be exempt. If the student is exempt from one of those, an extra subject can be taken by the student's wishes. These are non-curricular languages such as Koran, Bae, Kerwanese, Polsan, Satsumese, Vradiw, just to name a few. However prior approval must be held if a student is to take a language like it. It's very common, however, that students who came into Dyria at the age of 10 or older will study Irsan and Dyrian regardless.
