The situation with  is actually quite complex. I can fully understand Boyan08 who wants the country to be called Macedonia, but on the other side there are Greek users who would find that an insult. So, no matter how you call the country, there will always be people who strongly disagree with it, which makes this a hard situation to deal with for the hosts. Maybe we could go with 'Republic of Macedonia', to make sure that the Greeks won't see it as 'their region', and the Macedonians aren't always reminded to a bad episode in their history. OK listen Boyan08 , The map thing was very unnecessary. Now that I've learnt a bit about Macedonia I can understand the situation, and its complexity, for sure. The thing with the map is just kind of blocking the freedom of speech, because that picture is describing the REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA ofc and you know that is not the situation now, neither we should ignore the past or the fact FYR Macedonia or FYROM or Macedonia or Macedonian Republic or Republic of Macedonia or WHAT-FUCKING-EVER is now independent and not Yugoslavic or anth. You're literally limitting us to specific ways of calling countries names, and srsly I don't mind people calling my country "Eretz Israel" which is, actually, when I think about it, an offensive terms as many people lost their lives fighting for our independecy and I can understand you because of this. It really does work both ways, and I think you might be SLIGHTLY overreacting (ahem, THIS) So I can understand what you mean but why be so stubborn and insisting on continuing this arguement? |

Hi guys,
to finish this conversation I have spoek to the forum moderators on this issue as this is a difficult area to discuss. I want the contest o be fun and welcoming for all.
So in response to me asking how the country should be referred by. This was the response.
The United Nations and many states and international organizations list the country as "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia"
I know this still cause an issue with some people but I will follow the moderators guidelines on this and the United Nations.
I hope we can move on from this topic and have a good edition.
