 Italy barely affords hosting Rome, Italy
After the announcement on the 25th of April, 2016, stating that Italy was not able to come up with the funds required to host the North Vision Song Contest, RAI and the NBU sat down for several discussion talks.Today, the Italian Head of Delegation alongside the head of the NBU,  Jan Simonis held a press conference again in Rome to discuss the plan going forward. RAI have proposed a revolutionary idea to the NBU, and we have accepted.
We have already introduced ROTW voting for this edition, however, instead
of having the contest in one city, we will hold both semi-finals and
the final in different venues in different cities. RAI and the NBU agreed that
this was best so that the municipal/city councils can spread their budget evenly,
therefore, RAI will have to fund the contest less. We expect bids from many cities
in Italy from the northern Alps to the beaches in Sicily. This marks history, for it will be the first time in the contest's history that the contest will be held in more than one city. However, this therefore means that each semi-final willhave a gap of a week in-between, instead of the usual two days.
The construction teams will work out the staging for each venue
so that acts can keep the same staging.
Many Italian cities are expected to bid, it is seen as a great tourist initiative.
Ryanair will sponsor the event, and in return, will give cheap flights for domestic Italian air-travel,
so that fans will be able to travel between the events.
Italy will be hosting NVSC 19, and this is
first in a line of many exciting changes to come!
