BULGARIAN SONG REVEAL - 14th OCTOBER!

After a 25th place in

Albania, Ruth has returned to

Bulgaria. She was given a warm welcome home and has thanked RTSH and the NBU for a spectacular jubilee edition;

"NVSC has been a wonderful experience to encounter new friends and to portray your talent to a world audience. I thank Albania & NBU for everything. Although the result wasn't what we wanted, I'm proud I brought my country to the final. To the next participants, make your countries proud!"

After a while,

BNT (Българска национална телевизия), confirmed an entry was sent and is to be revealed on Friday, 14th October 2016. No hints were given as to who the singer is; except that the singer is going to be a young and upcoming singer. The HoD commented;

"No major hints this time.. but I can assure you the young artist has been interested in North Vision since #17.. stay tuned!"

Bulgaria has opted to go internal in #21 due to financial constraints and an upcoming change of management in which the current HoD will take over another country's participation.

25|09|2016 - Vladiov Simbac, press officer of Folx, announced that Folx music and television is not interested in taking part, due to not having a NBU membership.

Consequently, Slovenia is not taking part in the 21st edition of NVSC.

BELARUS TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC!
Earlier this evening,

BTRC announced that the

Belarusian NS "NorthFest" will be held once again.
Which obviously means that

Belarus will take part at the upcoming Northvision Song Contest in

Czech Republic.
The

Belarusian participation was in doubt, in case of participation in the PQR, when

Katya Volkova failed to qualify from the first semi-final with her song "Nad Atlanticheskim".
But after the final results was published, it turned out

Belarus ended 12th. Which means no PQR.

Different from the previous edition, NorthFest 21 will have only 1 big final instead of a 4 show system.

Armenia will be in the Czech Republic!

Even though the Armenian participation was on doubt, AMRTV can finally confirm that the country will take part at the twenty first edition of the contest, in the Czech Republic. The broadcaster has already internally picked its entry for the contest.

The

Azerbaijani head of delegation and North Broadcasting Council member Mrs. Weaver stated the following after the song was sent for approval.

«The song is with no doubt a tribute to the Armenian Genocide, whose centenary was commemorated on 24 April 2015. Therefore, as it is a clear reference to the "genocide", it breaks the rules of the North Vision Song Contest. Unless the song is changed, Armenia shouldn't participate this edition.
This song is intended to offend our country as well as Turkey.»

After the

Azerbaijani cite, the

Swedish head of delegation and official executive supervisor Mr. Simonis stated back:

«The entry purely represents the historical past that the family of the entrant went through and does in no way break the rules or intend to offend other nations and therefore is a valid entry to the contest.»

Azerbaijan’s participation in 21st edition uncertain

AzTV has today revealed that Azerbaijan’s participation in the North Vision
Song Contest #21 is currently uncertain.

With a third participation in the pre-qualification round of the contest looking
likely following the country’s disappointing results in #20, AzTV is currently
assessing their financial situation with a final decision expected to be made in
the coming weeks.

Although AzTV has officially cited financial problems as the main reason behind
the country’s uncertain participation, national media sources have reported current
internal issues between AzTV and the NBU in regards to Armenia’s rumoured entry for
the competition.

“Politically-influenced songs have no place in the North Vision Song Contest”, reveals
an AzTV insider. “The fact that the NBU members have even considered such an entry is utterly
ludicrous. This is a clear breach of rules and the act should therefore not be allowed
on the North Vision stage.”

Kazakhstan to withdraw!

It has come as a shock to many, but NTK has decided to
not participate in the Czech Republic, due to a variety of reasons; the main
of which has proven to be the cost of participation in recent editions.

Not many have anticipated this sort of statement from NTK, however
after internal discussions between NTK management, the decision
to withdraw from the North Vision Song Contest has been made, and it's
now sure that Kazakhstan shall not be participating in the Czech Republic.

The main reason for this sudden withdrawal is the cost of participation, which has
been constantly rising over the course of the last editions, which the budget of
the NTK is not able to keep up with. After the less than satisfactory result
and very high cost of participation for Kazakhstan in Tirana, the idea of a
withdrawal was almost universally supported within NTK management.

"We are of course sad to make this decision, as North Vision has become an identity
to many Kazakh people, and we embrace that fully. However, we really cannot fit
the participation in our budget at this point, and the less than satisfactory
result of Ayree last edition doesn't make up for it too much," said HoD of Kazakhstan,
Mark Styrke in an interview given to major Kazakh news outlets on Monday.

Kazakhstan's further plans in the future are still uncertain, however a return in
the 22nd edition, possibly with new management is not outruled at this point in time.

Anyway, enough roleplay for now and onto the real deal. I'm not withdrawing forever obviously, but me, kev and Miloš have decided on a three-way swap, in which I will be getting

Finland from the 22nd edition onwards, I must say I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to participate with a country that I've always wanted.

Of course it's a bit sad to let go of Kazakhstan, as I've really grown to love it over the 14 editions (wow, that's a long time!) I've had it for. What started out as a pretty random country I wanted to get rid of in the beginning, ended up as a country with a great music industry and great opportunities in the contest.

I still remember the

7th edition, and how excited I was to participate, how much work I put into my selection and searching for Kazakh songs, as the Kazakh music industry back then was really not at the state it is today. My first qualification in my first participation felt amazing, and even the fact that I placed just 16th didn't matter, because it was still an amazing opportunity to participate, and I'll never forget the 7th edition.

From there onwards, the

8th edition I also organised a very big national selection, which turned out to be a mistake later on, but at the time songs could be reused, so I found no issue with hosting a selection that big. I was rather inactive during the edition, however I do remember being impressed with the performances, and of course the scoreboard, which was the first to introduce actual speeches and it was really just amazing. I also remember awarding my

to the

winner, which was a great surprise at the time. The non-qualification was rather annoying for me at the time, but it really did not matter as I loved the song I sent and still do

The

9th edition went by with another wave of inactivity for me, at first I was going to host a selection, but then ended up sending Luina instead. The performances really blew me away at the time, and the edition overall felt very well done. I can't say much else though, as I really was inactive at the time. I do remember Jess 's speeches though, they were obviously the best part of the edition 3:)

The

10th,

11th and

12th edition went by quite similar to the 9th edition, in a state of semi-activity, however I missed a lot of things (such as voting in the SF of #12 (grumpy)

), and as my results were not really good during this period, I'd say it's the period of NVSC I remember the least.

However, the pinnacle of my participation with Kazakhstan was of course the victory in the

13th edition. To this day I'm incredibly grateful for the victory, as before that I wasn't invested into the OVSC community as much and didn't know a lot of people, despite having been on here for over one and a half years at that point. My victory opened so many opportunities to me on the forums, and I couldn't be more thankful for it. and let's not forget that I won over

Sweden

The

14th edition was probably the most memorable edition for me, after the 13th, as I was a part of the NBU council for the first time and was trusted with the job of creating recaps. I must say this edition was overall amazing, with great entries, a great design and just everything was really perfect (except for Kazakhstan's result but I digress (grumpy)

), and again, I will never forget this edition.

The

15th edition was also very memorable, though I wasn't in the NBU council here, it really didn't matter because the edition was super well prepared and done, and the performances were without a doubt the most impressive ever, far ahead of the ones in #8 and #9. This was also the edition I started with Äwenfestïvali, which continued all the way up to the last edition. Just an amazing edition is all I can say.

The

16th edition was once again a very memorable one. Shortly before the edition I rejoined the NBU council, this time as a permanent member, which changed the entire course of my time in NVSC, and onto a completely different path, you could say. I must say I'll be forever grateful for the council members, but especially Rick for suggesting me in a time when an additional member was needed. Once again, I made the recaps this edition and it was really just another perfect edition (this time also reflecting in Kazakhstan's result (smirk)

).

The

17th edition will once again be a very memorable one, though the songs were rather weaker than most other editions, I will definitely remember hosting the PQR, and starting the entire Luina trolling thing. It was really just a great experience overall.

As for the

18th,

19th and

20th editions, I feel like they're all too recent to talk too much about them, and I really don't want to repeat myself a million times on, so I'll just summarize and say that these editions as well were amazing, and working with the winning users, especially ClassifiedCat and Anesović was a really great experience overall. I also still think that the 19th edition had the best songs in NVSC history, though the 20th definitely gives up a tough fight.

From before my joining, I remember very clearly the

5th and

6th edition, as I first really started getting involved with NVSC from the 5th onwards, and with every edition, NVSC has just kept raising the bar higher and higher in every possible way.

Wow, this post ended up being written as if I were withdrawing from the contest completely, but no worries, I'm not: I'll be back soon! ^_^

RTHK is proud to announce that

Hong Kong will participate in the 21st edition of the North Vision Song Contest.
Shortly before the grand final, it was announced that the nation could participate in the next edition of the contest only if they would finish in the Top 6.
After

G.E.M finished third in the Grand Final of the

North Vision Song Contest 20 with her song 'Away',

Hong Kong was invited back to participate as member of the Big 6 in the

21st edition.

The HoD stated:

North Vision became really popular in Hong Kong after the 20th edition. We're extremely happy that we were given one more chance to participate in this huge event and it's a big honour for our country.
After G.E.M. made the nation proud with a 3rd place, the interest between the Hongkonger artists is big.
