The National Selections gives us a lot of things to care about. A bunch of artists, a bunch of songs, and (possibly) a bunch of shows to follow.
We always follow every selection, on the chance to find who is worthy of representing their nation amoungst a lot of other singers competing for the same trophy.
But then there are always these selections, which, after it's finished, makes you wonder why you decided to spend your time actually following this selection in the beginning.
Things like the songs, artists, results, hosts, staging, the show itself, or even the winning entry, are factors that easily could destroy someones NS experience in just mere seconds.
Rambo Amadeus Award for the most disappointing selection: (with motives)
Lithuania: Euroviziijos 2017(Having a 10 weeks long selection, with almost half of them being useless, only to have around 70% of all songs being complete garbage, and in the end select a song which is still disliked by the eurovision community.
Also lovely of them to just throw a international jury half way through the competition. Great idea, Lithuania)
Germany: Unser Song 2017(Having a positivily huge interest amoung young eurovision fans, only to just have five singers battling with TWO songs (and 10 revamps), none of which were close of being a entry to even escape the glorifying bottom 5.
To top it off, they decide to still kick two of the contestants before they could even sing one of their eurovision entries, and even kick another one before they sang their 2nd song)
Spain: Objetivo Eurovision 2017 (+EuroCasting)(Having a awfully long wildcard process, with several good songs, only to have one of them win, whilst the 5 internally selected songs was even worse than the top 10 selected wildcard songs.
In the end, just like Lithuania, they still managed to select a song which is disliked by the eurovision community. And as the cherry on top, they let a 3 jury team decide between a tie, and the favourite lost. Go figure)
Moldova: O melodie pentru Europa 2017(Despite having no money, they still decided to use a selection to select their entry. Even three of the officially selected 12 acts were removed (two disqualified, one withdrawal, and the TV quality was still bad, as always)
The only positive thing about the whole selection is that SunStroke Project were the winner, which probably had the only entry that actually sounded finished in the first place)
Portugal: Festival Da Cancao 2017(Having changed a bunch of rules for this years selection, and even promising to have the competition more modern, RTP still didn't take that into account.
They managed to bring really huge names from the Portuguese industry, yet still managed to give 80% of them outdated songs. Even the winner sounded like a 1950's "Over the Rainbow" cover.
Greece: Ellinikós Telikós 2017(A hugely hyped singer, but with a disappointing selection. Not even having the singer sing the songs in the studio, and the three songs were no where as quality content as many people expected them to be.
This is probably what happens when you think hiring Dimitris Kontopoulos is a good idea in the first place)
