French song for Retro WWWSC 30 Hello, my name is Orlando, producer and brother of the artist who has been chosen by France to compete for the 30th special edition of Retro WWW Song Contest. I'll be the French spokesperson. My sister is Iolanda Gigliotti, as known as Dalida. She is born in Egypt in 1933 from an Italian family then emigrated to France where she made the career we all know. The choice of Dalida for the 30th edition was quite obvious for the French committee because Dalida passed away 30 years ago and became famous 30 years before with the song we have chosen today. By the way, a movie has just released about her life with Sveva Alviti playing her role. Our song is called "Bambino" (means "little boy" in Italian). In this song, Dalida gives some advice to a very young boy who plays mandolin for the girl he loves, and says that he is too young for adult matters like that. This song also remains Dalida's Italian roots, and we are very pleased to see that this song is going to compete in Italy. Timeslot: 2:20+Photo of Dalida:

Slovenia will be represented by Simona Weiss. In her career she released around 200 songs and 20 albums. She had recorded many great duets with important Yugoslavian singers (and later Ex-Yugoslavian). She had passed away on 19th December 2015 at the age 52 due to cancer. I decided to send a song she is singing with a Croatian singer Goran Karan. She sings Slovene, he sings in Croatian and together they sing in Spanish. This means I cover 3 themes with one song I find this song very special and magical. Hope you like it. Simona Weiss & Goran Karan - Tu non llores mi querida

Latvia #30 Nora Bumbiere is one of the most loved latvian singers ever. Her voice is attractive, but at the same time very calming. When she was alive, she was one of the latvian beauty queens, because every girl wanted to look as good as she did. She was like an icon in 70's and 80's. She started her career in early 60's while singing in several choirs, when she got noticed by Raimonds Pauls (the most iconic pianist and composer in Latvia) and was invited to sing in a band called "MODO". In late 70's she decided to do a solo career. And she become the most popular female singer in Latvia at that time. I'm not really sure if she had much to do with Soviet Union as I haven't found any songs that she would sing in russian, but I think that nevertheless she was popular in USSR as well. Anyway, she didn't have the longest life just like many great artists - she said her goodbye to this world at the very young age of 46 in 1994 caused by the cirrhosis of the liver. If there's any talk about Latvian music classics, there's always Nora Bumbiere as one of the topics. There aren't too many memorium statues for latvian musicians, but she is one of those who has her own (picture in spoiler)!
EDIT: Just noticed that yesterday Nora would have had her 70th birthday, if she would still be between us! Rest in peace!
So I decided to go with her and to make this edition maybe a bit more cheerful (because she wasn't really a singer that would sing cheerful songs), she's gonna be performing her cover (made in late 1977-1978) of a quite popular international disco song! Nora Bumbiere - "Es Gribu Dejot Bugi" (3:20 onwards, please) PICS: You might be asking - why there are leaves on her monument? Because one of her most popular songs was "About the last leaf"

United States For this edition, I felt obligated to send a certain artist. That artist is Prince. He's known for his song "Purple Rain" and he died in 2016 of an accidental overdose. The song I'm sending is "When Doves Cry". Thanks to Hayastantzi92 for the suggestion btw
