I know my opinion doesn't matter but imo it's not really fair that all countries who vote as RoW should have their places secured the following edition. Like come on not everyone is able to make a confirmation post in 4-5 hours while the places are being taken, considering there are also NS makers who have their places secured as well. Imo the PQR participants shouldn't be determined based on how slow they confirm but considering their placement in a previous edition, just like in NVSC for example. I respect your opinion but this time I have to disagree with it The RoW system works precisely so that those who aren't able to make a confirmation post in 4-5 hours while the places are being taken ensure their placing next edition. Then, I really consider it unfair to base the PQR on previous results because some countries would never go into PQR while smaller nations are more likely to do so over and over again, also the problem of ''spots being taken to quickly'' wouldn't disappear with this either: as long as there are more than 51 countries wanting to take part, the spots will obviously get taken in very few hours.

MG and Gilberto I actually find both of your suggestions not so good tbh., but in your posts there are also statements to agree with. Could somebody open a new thread to discuss this any further? That's actually something important imo.

If every edition the number of participants will grow, so will the number of RoW voters and therefore there will be more and more secured places. And less places for remained ones. Meh

An idea is to go back to the old system: 51 players had a secured spot and in case one of them withdrew, a new player could join. (i'm not sure when and why this changed ) We could give those 51 players a few days (or a week) to send an entry, and in case some of them don't send anything, new players can take their places.

Meh Just like Gilberto said, a PQR with countries that failed to do well the edition before means smaller countries would always be there, or countries without so good results. Apart from that, it's kind of impossible to have so many countries in the PQR. This edition, the maximum number we expect is 8 and those 8 might not even vote in the final as members of RoW. However, if they do, they are of course welcome to participate next edition as a reward. We can't really know whether the spots will be taken fast enough or so, that's also why we let you know about the exact date and time the official thread opens beforehand; so that everyone can come online at that time and post an entry. As for the National Selections, I don't think it's fair to control those.
Personally I don't expect the number of participants to grow that much either. We've already got many countries participating and unless someone contacts us, we don't invite anyone.

The system changed last edition and that was because we had many players who missed out. Well, what if you were sick for instance and couldn't come online for a day? Your place would be lost. However, with the PQR, you still have a chance. Apart from that, I guess it's great to be open to new participating players/countries, instead of just keeping them in a waiting list or so. 2 consecutive editions with exactly the same countries would also be boring and what about the debuting ones? Wouldn't we accept any new country if those 51 players weren't willing to withdraw?

But this is still an improvement from the last edition... I personally don't mind seeing the same countries, and some of them would take a break once in a while anyway (just like at ESC). Though it would be more difficult for them to come back... No system is perfect, but we should find one that most players are happy with.

Exactly, no system is perfect However, judging by the time interval between the opening of the submissions and the submission of the 48th entry, it's way shorter than the one of last edition, meaning that apparently there is still a good interest in the contest

Imo the best way to do that is just like in many contests - countries with worst scores in semies go to PQR
