Jonas Gardell reported to be confirmed for Melfest 2018
Jonas Gardell, 54, is a swedish author, comedian, dramatist and artist, and has also had several connections with Melfest in the past time. He was one of the "interval" acts during Melfest 2002 and 2003, during a mini clip show called "Schlagerskolan" (Schlagerschool). The "Schlagerschool" later returned in 2016. He also appeared in the Melodifestivalen Movie "Livet är en Schlager" (Life is a schlager), and also took part in the musical version of it in 2014.
Aftonbladet has revealed how Jonas Gardell has been asked year, after year, after year to compete in Melfest, as both Christer Björkman and SVT has had him in their wishlist for ages.
But, with over four sources, Aftonbladet can safely assure that Jonas Gardell WILL make his debut in the 2018 edition.

MORE NEWS: Kalle Moraeus, Kamferdrops and Renaida Braun are reported for Melfest 2018
Kalle Moraeus was stopped from competing in the 2017 melfest due to him hosting another SVT show, being later replaced by Roger Pontare. But next year, Christer Björkman has given him the thumbs up to compete.
Previous connection to MF: He competed in 2010 with the entry "Underbart", unfortunately only reaching 5th in the semi, thus not making it to the second stage.
The norwegian Kamferdrops has also been reported for Melfest 2018. She got a huge hit with the cover "Jag trodde änglarna fanns" in Sweden, and several sources reveal that she has got one of the 28 places in next years competition. Previous connection to MF: none
Just like Kampferdrops, Renaida Braun has been reported for Melfest 2018. Renaida got recognition due to her competing in Swedish Idol 2016, same year as the winner, Martin Almgren. In the end, she got a 6th place, and thus far, has not release any of her own material. Previous connection to MF: none
This brings the rumour counter up to 16 participants.

More names rumoured for Melfest 2018
Including Edward Blom, Dotter, Emmi Christensson, Jessica Andersson & Emilia Rydberg!
Edward Blom is a archivist, trade historian, writer and a television personality. He is quite a known face in Sweden, and also became a national sensation when someone remixed him saying "När man fester, så festar man", and it did become quite the story in Sweden with that remix. Now several sources says that he is surely in the next years competition. (My own thoughts: despite the fact that Edward Blom is NOT a singer, which does makes me really skeptical over this, I am still interested to see what made Christer Björkman do this decision, so I can't say that I am 100% against this).
Emmi Christensson is a singer, musical artist, and a actress. She is mostly known due to her numerous appearances in musical acts such as "West Side Story", "Sound of Music", "Les misérables", and even "Phantom of the Opera", which she has performed both at Londons West End against Peter Jöback, and on Cirkus in Stockholm.
Johanna Jansson, also known as Dotter, is highly recognized by the forumers as the creator of songs such as "My Flower", "Dive" and "Revolution". She has also competed in Melfest before, as a song writer for this years entry "A Million Years", sung by Mariette.
These other two down below are acts which are highly skeptical to compete, but that sources have still heard something about:
Jessica Andersson is highly known in the Eurovision community, as she was half of the duo "Fame" that represented Sweden in 2003 with the song "Give Me Your Love". She has also made numerous appearances at Melfest, her latest being in 2015 with "Can't Hurt Me Now". The source has mentioned that "Jessica Andersson is part of the puzzle, but I am not sure if she is confirmed yet. It doesn't seem like it will be a ballad this time, but more of a uptempo song."
Emilia Rydberg got a massive hit in Sweden in 1998 with her song "Big, Big World", and has also competed in Melfest 2009 with her entry "My World". But a lot of confusion is around Emilia's participation, as the source mentions that: "I've heard some weeks ago that she was active, but I haven't heard anything since then, so it's not definitely sure about this info."
So far, we're up to 18 acts that are "definitely sure", and 3 that "have yet to have a final decision".
On Tuesday, the 28th of November, we'll be knowing all the 28 acts that will compete at next years competition. Stay tuned for more!

UPDATE: One officially active, and two others rumoured
Some day ago, Nöjesbladet reported that Jessica Andersson was active, but still not 100% trustful. But today, Nöjesbladet can confirm that Jessica Andersson is fully active to be part of Melfest 2018 next year. As mentioned before, the song would not be a ballad, but more of a uptempo song (popschlager), that they believe would appeal to the audience.
Two more newcomers has also been rumoured: namely the rapper Moncho, and the youngling Elias Abbas.
Moncho, also called by his real name; Ramón Monserrat, is a rapper who was part of the Uppsala-based group LöstFolk. The sources can reveal that he will be participating as a solo artist for next years competition.
Elias Abbas, who is only fifteen years old, is a Stockholm based singer, who debuted this year with his song "Min Queen". Nöjesbladet has revealed that his competing entry is written by none other than Hamed "K-One" Pirouzpanah, the man behind entries such as "Undo", "Blame It On The Disco", and this years Melfest winner, "I Can't Go On".
This makes the total Melfest participant count up to 24.
Four more to go, and the artist press conference is just around the corner!
