"Mercy" is a song with a message behind it, and a strong one by that. The simple-yet-effective structure, combined with the strong voice and a rather more personal approach on the performance, the delivery was just as the structure was.
My point of view regarding it? God bless France. In all honesty, god bless the televoting in France. (although Emmy was robbed and I'll say it till I die probably idk) Mercy was my actual favorite in the selection and as every fan of a song, I really hoped this would do well. I never thought this will gain so much of a fanbase in the televote side, but here we are. Plus Destination Eurovision was a great national selection, so let's hope France will keep it there for a while. I'm so proud of these two already and I honestly wish them the best in the competition, they deserve it so much.
Once again, thank you France for actually not making me choose you as a candidate for my bottom 3 this year. Merci beaucoup. I'm proud of you
Also the "Find the Blandine" game in this national selection was fun, not going to lie

DOUZE POINTS!I absolutely adore this song and think its an amazing choice to be the winner. As we all witnessed last year, you don't need 53-second long belts, flaunting your tits or anything to win Eurovision. I actually think it could be a strong favourite of juries - especially because of the topic its written on, the lyricism, plus that simple beat.
Bonne Chance! xoxo

I was quite disappointed by the selection. Some of the singers in competition were absolutely not ready for an event like Eurovision. The performance of the "Pheno-Men" was... astonishing... And this poor girl who hasn't even understood that if she doesn't keep her micro close to her mouth, we can't hear a crap... The winning entry is just correct, but I don't think it's enough to make it noticeable among the others.

tbh I didn't like it at first listen but now I love the song. The lyrics and the beat are perfect and I think they will do very well in Lisbon. Good job!

An . Read on for an in-depth explanation. The song itself is sincere, deep, meaningful. I grew very attached to the concept behind the creation of the song. Lyrically, there's a purpose for every word and line. It then finishes off with a heartfelt repetition of the word "mercy," or is it "merci"? The double meaning is the best thing about the song. The aforementioned word is so effective because it breaks language barriers. The last part is the hook which will make the song memorable. My main negative with this one (and what prevents a from me) is the tediousness of the earlier parts before the final chant. It was just verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge. There wasn't any particularly impactful moments until the very last part. As far as their performance that night, she's great vocally, so I have no concern for that. The guitarist felt more relevant in the final performance compared to the semifinal. Despite doing two completely different things, they were able to connect (they're married after all). The staging made the song's concept more realized as they stand on a small round platform surrounded by low-lying smoke. It appears to depict them being isolated at sea, which the song is inspired from. With a bigger stage like where they'll perform in Lisbon, they are going to be a strong focal point. Also at the end, the synchronized hand gesture by Madame and the audience was so captivating to watch. It reminded me of Francesco Gabbani when he did the dance for "Occidentali's Karma," but with Madame Monsieur, it's done in a simpler, classier way. What worries me is that this song is going to be overhyped and fail to live up to its expectations come May (similar to Italy last year). This is especially considering that this is only the second song revealed this season, and so the later hype for these later-released songs (if they're any good) could cause "Mercy" to fade into the background. The song really grabbed the French audience, and it reflected in the televote. Does the rest of Europe feel the same? That's what I'm concerned about. It looks like I'm overthinking this, but I've got a lot to say about this song (probably because I watched the whole NS, so it's still fresh off my mind), which is probably good. It'll stay in my mind for a while. I think what will make or break their result is running order and staging. I don't think the song needs a revamp, but it does get one, it better be a good revamp. They have the 3-minute version ready to go. TL;DR - I love the meaning, the beginning is tedious, better performance/staging, worried it won't stand out when more entries are released Okay, that's enough.

I give it for now. It's not bad, but also no further remarkable. I like her voice, but what annoys me are those short "breaks" in several cases between two words if you know what I mean. Also in a few moments I found it a bit repetitive. But I like that France is taking Eurovision serious again.

A solid from me. Reminds me of those types of songs that float through every other forum contest from French singing pop ladies such as Louane and get 7th places only. There seems to be a bit of an overhype going in the air, which is what I don't like but fine guys, go on and overhype, I'm not telling you to stop hyping it altogether.
