The 11 artists who succeeded in winning their battles are directly qualified for the second round: Jessie James Decker, L'Aura, Ma Michelle, Sonohra, Danti and Giulia Penna, Juel, Gaia, Simonetta Spiri, Luana, Manitoba and Giada Agasucci.

SECOND ROUND - FIRST SERIES  We are back for the second step of our selection! If you don't want to be spoiled, check the complete results of the first round just above!
Before I explain how we are going to proceed, let's welcome our unknown artist, Giulia Mazzoni. This time, she is not going to sing but to make a piano cover of the international hit "Get lucky". Giulia, the stage is yours!
Thank you Giulia! So firstly, I am going to explain how we are going to proceed for the rest of the competition. From the 24 songs that were in competition, we have only 14 remaining acts. There will be 8 qualified for the next round: the winners of the 7 battles and the wild card that will be given at the end (the wild cards if there are one or several draws). Then we will have quarter-finals, semi-finals and the Grand final. After that, we will know the song chosen for International Music Festival 40.
The calendar will look like this (dates may change if we need to communicate the name of the winner sooner):
28. August - 3. September: Second round, Week 1 (4 battles)
4. September - 10. September: Second round, Week 2 (3 battles)
10. September: Announcement of the qualifiers (winners of their battles and wild cards)
11. September - 17. September: Quarter finals
18. September - 24. September: Semi-finals
25. September - 1. October: Grand Final.
We also decided how to organise the next selections. We intend to organise them the same way for special editions (24 songs in competition). For ordinary editions, we will have 14 songs (with 11 recent songs [around 3 months old at most] and 3 older songs). The beginning will be like our second round and once we will have 8 songs, the system of groups of our first edition will come back!

I decided to let Random.org make the draw. Like in real life, we can get a Real-Bayern. Only one song can at the end, but that don't mean that other songs disappear forever. Indeed, five of the eight songs of these four battles are (or have been) involved in other contests or national selections. That is pure coincidence for some of them but I certainly gave some ideas to some Italian/San Marinese hosts in other contests (and this is one of the aims of my national selections: promote artists that are not very used or who are simply unknown on this forum. |
