from probably one of the worse selections of this year, they still managed to select one of the better songs in there, thank god. eitherways, I had this song as one of my favourites from the very start when I listened to all 17 entries (which was rather painful), and I am very happy that Serbia saw potential in them as well. just like Greece, "Nova deca" is really ethnic with it's melody and singing, but it also makes it sound kinda modern, even with all the ethnic elements that could age it back. the intro starts out very beautifully with a folk-ish singing style, before turning into more "pop" feeling with a male singer coming in. the song later turns more beat-y, and still combines the folk-ish singing and the normal singing style, while still remaining the ethnic, melodic, calm and catchy feeling to it. I would say that this actually works, despite some moments sounding messy, as others have mentioned it. While I can't say many negative stuff about it, we could have easily received something much worse for Serbia, so this is still a great choice, coming from that selection. Well done, Serbia
While I am at it, I am very happy to actually see Beovizija have a well credited top 5. "Nova deca" is already self explained "Pesma za tebe" might have been a bit boring, but her voice really elevated the song during the performance. I was actually predicting this to be a contender between "Nova deca" as well. "Pod krosnjom bagrema"s style isn't fit for Eurovision, but I still enjoyed it, and Dusan is still a great singer, so him scoring 3rd was well decided. "Samo nek se okrece" was definitely something new, with Lord combining Serbian elements together with the genre of Electro-swing, which also shows in the performance. Well produced. and "Svatovi" itself was definitely trying its way in trying to be modern, but still came through with some people, including me, so a 5th place is a decent placing for this in the end. The rest can bin themselves for all I care, lol

This song feels like it wants to be everything at once and it makes it very convoluted and hard to listen to. I do like the ethnic vibes from the beginning though.

It's already growing on me because of part 1:02-1:34, my first listening was like "WTF is this", but it's already on 24 hours after (I listened it like 20 times). I'd say it has winning potential but... Nice melody overall, text is too short, it's mainly repeating the 1:02-1:34 part. Serbian biggest mistake is not to send Dušan Svilar, mainly first time in 2013 with "Spas", that song would win Eurovision for Serbia again 100%, this year he was decent again and maybe he should have won just because of "Nova deca" has too short text. Another decent song was "Ruža sudbine" performed by Danijel Pavlović and that's all decent of Beovizija 2018. I hope they'll make a glamorous stage performance in Lisbon, because the song has potential. NAPRIJED KOMŠIJE!

You know those entries in Eurovision which actually try to combine traditional stuff and adapt it to our random modern era? Well, here comes "Nova Deca" - a traditional Balkan-influenced and adapted with a modern twist in order to represent Serbia this year. The performance is pretty enchanting, and even so the traditional elements stand-out greatly. The modern-half side steps up in order to actually make it a bit more modern - and not to sound outdated around the Yugoslavia era (*ahem* like half of the NS to be fair *ahem*)
My point of view regarding this song? Oh, neighbours, neighbours, neighbours... Serbia throughout ESC for me was basically like a rollercoaster: in the first 2 years very very high or the highest they could get in my tops and it went straight to hell once with 2010. From 2011 onwards it went in ups and downs and it seems like this time it goes... a bit up. Not with much, but a bit up.
Also, a honorable award for probably the worst NS we've had to date, for god's sake guys, you were supposed to do better than our lovely broadcaster, but apparently we ended up in the same goddamn boat. Yay us, I guess.
Nova Deca is probably the best they could offer, however this bugs me a whole lot in its full. It literally feels like you listen to 2 separate songs which can't even mix and it sounds pretty messy all in all. It's like trying to mix water and oil: it doesn't work at all. Which is actually a shame, as I actually love the traditional part, but the modern side ruins it greatly. Also is it me or it repeats quite often? Thank god they were pretty solid live, otherwise this would've ended up way lower. It's not the worst from the bunch, but it's way far from the best. And this was initially a , but I've lowered it down to because every time I listen to it, it just gets worse.

I'll give this . I'm just mostly confused, and don't really know how to describe this. Very strange.
