As I said a few hours ago, I was thinking on making a post about this announcement and here it is. I'm not gonna pretend I'm shocked, this really caught me off guard, to be honest. And even though I had a rather "ephemeral" adventure at NNMC (participating only four editions, from #66 to #68, and returning in #70), I've enjoyed it so much with you guys, sharing and listening to new music from all over the world! This was the first ever forum contest I signed up for when I arrived here in July, which makes it even more special. Thank you MaRtIn for hosting this amazing contest and of course, to everyone who ever participated!
And so, to keep up with the tradition, here is my Spotify playlist if you want to listen to my entries! Have fun!
Me giving 12 to 3/4 of these entries 😂

*emotional post cause I'm an emotinional bitch* When I first entered in this contest in September 2017, I never thought I would still be here 6 years later activally participating almost every edition. My life changed so much, I was entering high school back then, I am now in my senior year of my university degree. I had to remove myself from every other contest in the forums but for some reason I just couldn't leave NNMC. There was something intriguing and unique about NNMC that kept me coming back, even when life was crazy and I had to withdraw for a few editions. This contest, not only gave me amazing fresh music from all over the world, it also brought me closer and closer to the music made and released every month in my country Portugal, which I proudly competed with for over 50 editions. I was so in touch with the Portuguese music industry that I even created a national selection (our dear AgoraNovaMúsica - which literally means NowNewMusic in Portuguese btw), something I never thought would happen for a contest with such a short confirmation period. My wish was to one day be able to win (I literally never won a single contest in the forums ), however I feel that I can consider my draw with Serbia last edition as a victory and die peacefully.
This contest and the forum in general represents a part of me that never changes despite my real life being completly different from my 14 year old self. Entering this website is like going to the house of your uncles which you only see twice a year but reminds you of your childhood and makes you feel good. I wanna thank MaRtIn and the rest of the council for creating and organizing this contest monthly, for creating such a nice and respectful environment where I always felt safe and welcomed. All these moments will stay with me and every time I hear certain songs I will remember that it's thanks to this awesome contest that I got to experience amazing music I wouldn't otherwise. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. MUITO OBRIGADO

It's taken me quite a bit of time to come to terms with this contest closing, which is partially why this is like 3 weeks later than everyone else's lmfao. I am absolutely going to miss this so much. I wanna thank MaRtIn and the rest of the council for doing so much for this contest in the 7 years it existed. I only got to participate for 3 years, but it was so much fun while I did. I'm kinda sad that I never got to aq, but ending the contest with a qualification streak for Trinidad and Tobago was honestly the best ending I could've asked for (especially with that year and a half nq streak I had lmao that was an era) I am reminded of a quote I say somewhere that said "Goodbyes are never permanent. Even if you may not get to experience something again, there will always be a chance, so it's best to say 'See you later'". I'm going to do the same. Even if we may not get the same contest again, the memories made because of this contest will always be with me. I will forever my silent pop off when I got my first q with Jammin' to Soca while in a car with my family in the middle of the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. I've found so many incredible songs that have since become a part of my main playlist of songs (shout out to Ealex for introducing me to EPFEPT and Barquinha in the past year. Both made my top 20 of the year, and I wouldn't have found them without you) and I will absolutely miss finding new gems that I had never heard of prior to the contest, but have fallen in love with Also, here is a full results list of all the entries I have sent (which basically is a best of Trinidad and Tobago, with the two songs I sent for India in the early era of my participation in this contest) since I joined in November 2019 and the Spotify playlist with all the songs! And of course this wouldn't be a best of T&T at NNMC without the queen of T&T, Nailah Blackman, as the queen on the thumbnail THANK YOU SO MUCH NNMC!

MESSAGES Part 1
In the voting form for Song of the Year, I suggested to people who were voting to "leave a special message about your impressions of the contest." I unfortunately did not have time to do a video, so posting them in batches is the alternative. I've replied to every single one who left a message. Here is the first batch:
(Thank YOU for joining NNMC. Although you weren't here very long, you are always going to part of NNMC's incredible legacy.)
(In addition to finally winning, your long participation with Kyrgyzstan opened me up to what the country [and region] had musically. Looking back, "Drama Queens" by Zere is my absolute favorite Kyrgyz entry, and I'm happy it finished in the Top 10 when it competed.)
(Having a country like South Korea is a big responsibility. Despite the ups and downs, you showed South Korea as a powerhouse throughout all these years. Your overall run with it was not disappointing. Thank you for slaying the contest.)
(Thank you for your kind words. Although some users committed to sticking to one country, you and others were dedicated to switching countries and finding new and interesting songs from all over the world. It really exposed me to so much diversity in music, genre-wise, country-wise, artist-wise, and language-wise. It was so sweet to see it all pay off when you won with Benin.)
(Same as Mihai, you jumped countries fairly often and it paid off with a win with Serbia. You constantly sent some incredible songs that really won me over.)
(I remember when you were basically denied participation in #58 but returned in #59 and WON. Everything happened for a reason, and I'm glad the you were able to win despite that hurdle.)
(Surpassing NVSC was not gonna happen, but I had envisioned it lol. I said it already at the beginning of the month, but thank you for being part of the NNMC journey as a former council member. Despite your ups and downs, I will always remember the ups. You had plenty of great and underrated entries.)
(Thank you for mentioning the designs. With how things have been for me personally over the past couple of years, I felt I've had to simplify the look and feel of the contest, but I still didn't wanna compromise the quality. And yes, even though you are one of the quieter users, you are noticed often. Thank you for participating!)
Expect the second batch of messages the next day.

MESSAGES Part 2
In the voting form for Song of the Year, I suggested to people who were voting to "leave a special message about your impressions of the contest." I unfortunately did not have time to do a video, so posting them in batches is the alternative. I've replied to every single one who left a message. Here is the second batch:
(Thank you so much for your nice words! I'm glad NNMC left a big impact on you. With you being among this new generation of SCF users, I am assured that the forum is in good hands.)
(And I look forward to seeing that!)
(Aww... thanks for being a spectator after all this time. I just know there's some songs you've enjoyed watching NNMC. I just know there are other contests elsewhere in the forum that will definitely be to your liking.)
(Thank you for sticking around as long as you did. You definitely witnessed NNMC go through an evolution, but the pacing never really changed, which is still crazy to me.)
(I'm happy you were able to find your place in this awesome forum community. It makes me happy that I was able to help in your overall forum experience.)
(I look forward to reading what you've got posted [unless I've already read it]. It is bittersweet, but regardless, thank you for being part of this.)
(I definitely consider you one of the OG NNMC participants. Winning three out of the first ten editions is still an incredible feat even after all these years. I'm so so happy that users like you decided to stick around with NNMC for so many years. It really means a lot to me.)
(YOU RIGGED THE RUNNING ORDERS?!? YOU'RE FIRED- oh wait. I honestly really didn't care that much about the running orders lol. If the song was good, it would do well regardless of running order. As one of the users who have been with NNMC from the literal very beginning, you are definitely one of the users who mean a lot to me. Thank you for being around for all seven years.)
Expect the third batch of messages the next day.

MESSAGES Part 3
In the voting form for Song of the Year, I suggested to people who were voting to "leave a special message about your impressions of the contest." I unfortunately did not have time to do a video, so posting them in batches is the alternative. I've replied to every single one who left a message. Here is the third batch:
(Thank you for participating every month as Indonesia! I'm happy that my ASEAN neighbor was able to nab a win along with sending some incredible entries that have become all-time favorites of mine. You deserved more wins, especially with "Lathi" and "Markisa".)
(NNMC was also a great resource for me to find awesome new songs, so I totally relate. Let's not forget when you won with Lithuania! You definitely knew a good song when you heard one.)
(Thank you for joining NNMC even if it was only for less than a year. I do realize that NNMC was probably the most accessible contest for new users, so I'm glad I was able to help you integrate into the forum easily. In your short time, one of your entries definitely left a big impression on me. You'll know which in my Top 50 video I share every year.)
(Looking back, I think "Boujee" by Nailah Blackman is unironically my favorite Trini entry ever. It was better than any other Nailah entry, and it was so robbed of a qualification. I'm actually very impressed that you were able to put up with such a small nation despite constantly flopping. You did not rely on Nicki Minaj too much [and even when you did, it got mixed results lol]. It was always a real treat every time T&T qualified. You definitely left a big impression on me with how much you challenged yourself in NNMC.)
(I've already shared some of my thoughts with you privately. But to add to that, your interest in NNMC so early on and your willingness to help me out in those times were honestly what inspired me to start the NNMC Council. It was clearly a worthwhile decision. Thank for helping me with everything when I needed it! I'm very glad to call you a friend.)
(We're you trying to make a "CTRL + ALT + DEL" reference? It's a great song, so I'm not mad! Despite your constant hurdles with providing a timeslot, I can't deny some of the entries you've sent were awesome, especially the ones earlier in 2022. You had a great string of songs then. Thank you for being another one of NNMC's long-time participants!)
(As a fellow ASEAN user, I have a bit of a soft spot for my region's entries. Thailand is one of the countries I hoped to see win, and you came so close in the 68th edition (just a few more points your way... but oh well)! Alas, winning NNMC is a "complicated" goal... see what I did there? "Mae Kiew" is still one of my favorite Thai entries [it probably still is actually]. It's so heartfelt, warm, and empowering I can't get it out of my mind. Your entries were always something I looked forward to every month because I know that if I like it, I'll really like it. Knowing your taste level [not only in music but in your designs], I'm gonna keep rooting for you to win a contest somewhere someday.)
Expect the fourth and final batch of messages tomorrow.

MESSAGES Part 4
In the voting form for Song of the Year, I suggested to people who were voting to "leave a special message about your impressions of the contest." I unfortunately did not have time to do a video, so posting them in batches is the alternative. I've replied to every single one who left a message. Here is the final batch:
(I've definitely read your post, and I appreciate it a lot. It's heartwarming to read about how NNMC was such a constant throughout your teenage years. And yes, it was quite a gut punch to lose that tie for the win, but either way, it was a gonna be a first-time winner. I'm happy to see you content with taking that as a personal win though. You've sent so many incredible Portuguese entries. "Talk" by Mai Kino still stands strong as my absolute favorite, but I've taken a liking for some of the more ethnic sounds, too. Obrigado!)
(I love how long this is. It really shows your enthusiasm for NNMC. Honestly, same with the oversaturation of ballads. We have them in the Philippines, too! Taiwan actually has a pretty strong NNMC history. I remember the first user to have it managed to score two wins and have several more great results in the early years. Then there was a drought... until you came along and snatched my wig with "A Requiem for the Nobles". GOD, that song is still SO good, so dark and so epic! And then you shock everyone by winning with "Storm". When I think of Asian powerhouses in online song contests, South Korea and Japan are always at the top of my mind. However, seeing how you've handled Taiwan... I really took notice and I think Taiwan became recognized as a true powerhouse in its own right because of you. I've gotta starting pay attention to the island's music scene more. Thank you!)
(This is such a profound memory. I'm touched that something like this can leave such a memorable moment in someone's life. After all, this is just a fun online contest, right? But I guess it's more than that when I read things like this. Thank you for coming along and enjoying the ride! I hope this is a memory you will cherish for the rest of your life.)
(Not the NowNewDramas looool! That aside, I love that moving to Finland inspired you to take on Finland in this contest. I'm sure you discovered a lot of songs that I know you are still enjoying to this day. I'm glad NNMC left that impact on you. And yes, "Battery" is still THAT banger.)
(An "All-Time Winner" event was not in my plans... recency bias, you know? But thanks for bringing it up. It was in my mind for a bit. Moving on... it's crazy for me to realize that you joined NNMC when you were 12. I was 19 when I started the contest. Looking at your history with Greece and the USA, you were hit-or-miss. When you hit, you hit HARD. "Anemos" was the culmination of your persistence. At first, I was slow to like it, but that's how I am generally with slower/gentler songs. Over time, it's grown on me SO much. I FEEL the song every time I listen to it. With my limited knowledge of Greek music, this is currently my favorite Greek-language song, and I owe it to you for sharing that to NNMC. With the USA, yeah you sent Yianna Terzi... but then, this past year... I don't know what happened. Something just clicked and several of your entries were showstoppers! Be on the lookout for my Top 50 list. Thank you for putting up with NNMC after all these years and throughout your teens.)
(For real! "Let Me Be Great" being NNMC's final winner is so poetic though. It unironically couldn't have come at a better time. After everything NNMC has been through, I'm confident it left its mark as a GREAT era in SCF's history. Thank you for joining this awesome contest!)
(Thank you so much for the praise. It really was a beautiful thing to be able to discover new music, new artists, new genres every month. It was always a pleasure. Even though you weren't here long, I know it was all inspirational nonetheless.)
(You get the pleasure of being my last message. What should I say? If it weren't for you and several other Central/South American users, I wouldn't have known what kinds of music we could uncover from this part of the world. You were usually among the more active users in the NNMC Discord chat, so I always noticed your enthusiasm for the contest. Thank you for being a part of this journey.)
And that's it. Thank you for all the sweet messages!

MaRtIn's Top 50 Entries of 2022 Honorable Mentions
I've got another post for you all! In anticipation of the my annual Top 50 video, I thought I'd leak some of the songs that narrowly missed the cut. There were so many good songs this year, but unfortunately, I could only include so much in the list. I thought I'd bother with making these my honorable mentions. I didn't include an Honorable Mentions list in the video, so that's why I'm posting this here. Here's the eleven songs that came the closest.
BRAZIL 62 • “Boys Don’t Cry” - Anitta
GERMANY 62 • “Remedy” - Leony
(A little bittersweet because I suggested this.)
NIGERIA 63 • “Softly” - Arlo Parks
LITHUANIA 64 • “Netikėta” - Vaida
NETHERLANDS 64 • “Zonder Gezicht” - Froukje ft. S10
KYRGYZSTAN 65 • “Molekuly” - Tamga, Mars & Mercury
UNITED STATES 65 • "Save Me" - Empress Of
AFGHANISTAN 66 • “The Freedom” - Ariana Popal

NNMC Fun Facts!
If you got tagged in this post, congratulations! You happen to be part of some special NNMC facts. No action needed in your part.
Here are some facts I discovered while making and editing the videos I've prepared for tomorrow's Grand Finale. The research wasn’t exhaustive, so feel free to correct me. And feel free to post your own fun facts that I didn't mention in this post.
• 34 different countries have won NNMC. - Europe - 19 (I placed Armenia and Georgia under this region.)
- Asia & Oceania - 10 (I placed Israel under this region.)
- Africa - 3
- Americas - 2 (It’s just Brazil and Canada lmao. Shocked it wasn’t more.)
• 17 different languages have won NNMC.- English is the obvious runaway with 43 entries.
- Korean and Ukrainian are distant runners-up with 4 each.
• 39 different users have won NNMC.- Julian , ClassifiedCat , Gregory (inactive) , and Tufkai all lead with 4 wins each.
- 𝐌𝐈𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐋 is the only user to win with three different countries: Bulgaria, Malawi, and Saudi Arabia.
- In contrast, both Ukraine and United Kingdom have won under three different users each: Ukraine - Ste , basil , kev ; United Kingdom - alexeh , Apostolis , Jacob
- Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think MG is the user who participated the longest until finally winning. I forgot when he debuted, but it was pretty early on in like the 10th edition (late 2016) I think?
• Both music videos of Finland’s two winning entries ("Rakas" and "When It's Time") are in black and white.
• Edition #03 winner “Home” by Diana Wang still holds the record for highest percentage of the maximum score in NNMC history at ~79.4%.
• With a 67-point margin over the runner-up, “Home” has stayed in Top 5 of biggest margins of victory after all these years. In fact, it held the record for 28 editions.
• Philippines has the longest gap between wins (61 editions).
WINNER TALLY (BY COUNTRY): Ties are broken by the recency of their wins.
Ukraine - 5 United Kingdom - 5 South Korea - 4 Taiwan - 4 France - 4 Australia - 4 Norway - 3 Canada - 3 Sweden - 3 Ireland - 3 Philippines - 2 Japan - 2 Greece - 2 Brazil - 2 Finland - 2 Spain - 2 Netherlands - 2 Belgium - 2 Benin - 1 Serbia - 1 Georgia - 1 Bosnia & Herzegovina - 1 Indonesia - 1 Turkmenistan - 1 Luxembourg - 1 Lithuania - 1 Israel - 1 Germany - 1 Tunisia - 1 Iran - 1 Armenia - 1 Saudi Arabia - 1 Malawi - 1 Bulgaria - 1
WINNER TALLY (BY LANGUAGE): Ties are broken by the recency of their wins. NOTE: I only considered the predominant language of each entry. For example, “Carnaval” has a verse in Spanish, but the majority of the lyrics are in English.
English - 43 Korean - 4 Ukrainian - 4 Serbian - 2 Greek - 2 French - 2 Mandarin - 2 Spanish - 2 Japanese - 1 Portuguese - 1 Indonesian - 1 Turkmen - 1 Lithuanian - 1 Arabic - 1 Armenian - 1 Finnish - 1 Bulgarian - 1
WINNER TALLY (BY USER): Ties are broken by the recency of their wins.

MaRtIn's Top 70 Entries of 2022 Yes, Top 70!
I know I've been hyping a Top 50 for the past few weeks, but that was kind of a lie. Since we're wrapping up NNMC after 70 editions, I thought "why not expand it to a Top 70 this year?" And it works out because there were so many good entries this year that I needed an excuse to expand the list lol. I'm tagging every user who submitted an entry in 2022 that got included in this list. Thank you for impacting my music taste in positive ways. I hope you all (and all other users) continue to explore, expand, and experience new music.
Enjoy!
