CONFIRMATIONS ARE CLOSED!47 countries will head to Vienna in January. We will see the return of Croatia, Latvia and Lebanon after a break of one edition and Liechtenstein after a break of two editions. Sadly, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Estonia, Slovakia and Switzerland are withdrawing. Bulgaria and Ireland are not returning, after withdrawing last edition.
This means, the Pre-Qualification Round (PQR) will not take place.
Because of Belgium failing to confirm anything within the deadline, Jen will receive her first strike and the country is forced to withdraw from the edition. Due to that, United Kingdom (@thesirenscalling) will, as the previous 7th place, be given the AQ status and will therefore not take part in the semi finals, as originally planned. |

UPDATE
17/12/2017, LONDON - British Broadcasting Corporation wishes to internationally release a statement made this morning on BBC News internally in the country regarding the situation with the country in the contest in NVSC 24.
"In lieu of today's situation with North Vision, we have optimistic views but understandings also. The United Kingdom's NVSC team are grateful to the decision made that we will be given automatic qualification in Vienna. However, we understand that this is because our nearby neighbouring Belgium refrained from giving a decision on their competing in the contest. This will be a loss, in our opinion, as Belgium can introduce good music across the NVSC and international viewers of the contest. So, although Belgium is not competing, we wish to say thank you to the NBU council for their decision today."
In regard to the national selection and the contest, the BBC and the NVSC UK team wishes to show the 20 artists which have been selected to compete in the national selection for NVSC 24.

It is uncertain and/or unconfirmed whether there will be more artists yet, to which we cannot confirm nor deny. We can confirm that, like the name of our selection, artists will be put into small 'battles' similar to the poll vote that Mollie won. These battles will select winning artists to go to a final where a large battle will take place. We are still trying to consider whether we will then have a Round 1 (Semi-Final) by another poll vote to half the qualifying songs, to then go to Round 2 (Final) by poll will give us the winning song.
Or simply - a full poll vote of all qualifying songs from the 'battles' and the song with the most votes is the winning song.
