Silja Rós will represent Iceland!
Reykjavik, Iceland - RÚV has finally announced the results of the national selection, Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins 24 and the winner has been crowned. After a very close battle with the 2nd place, the winner was Silja Rós.
Who is Silja?
Silja Rós Ragnarsdóttir is a 23 year old singer and songwriter from Reykjavik, Iceland. She is classically trained from The Reykjavík Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts and studies jazz singing at FÍH. She plays both guitar and piano. Her music is mostly acoustic, soft listening indie-rock, folk music.
She also spends time in both Reykjavik and Los Angeles.
Silja entered the Icelandic version of the voice in 2016 but she failed to make it far. However that didn't discourage her from making music - in 2017 she finally started her solo career and started to release her own music, gathering recognition in her country.
Silja decided to enter Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins #24 with the hope of representing her country in the contest, and today her dream came through. She won the jury voting and came in close 3rd place in the televoting. This was enough for her to be able to participate in the contest.
Speaking with RÚV, Silja announced that;
The result today is absolutely astonishing and I am so proud to be the Icelandic artist. Although I am quite unknown, the selection was a great platform for singers like me to participate. The competition was tough, and I did not expect this. I will do my best in Austria!
She will perform her song Did you Know in Vienna. Take a listen below;

  Emina Jahović Sandal (pronounced [emǐːna jâːhovit͡ɕ sǎndal], Serbian Cyrillic: Емина Јаховић Сандал; born 15 January 1982) is a Serbian singer-songwriter, model, and actress. Born and raised in Novi Pazar, she primarily studied at the Mokranjac Music School and briefly attended Braća Karić University's Faculty of Management in Belgrade. Her brother is Mirsad Türkcan (né Jahović). She is married to Mustafa Sandal, a leading pop star from Turkey.
Initially working as a songwriter in the late 1990s, she came to prominence after winning several festivals. Jahović's vocal abilities captured the attention of recording artist Dino Merlin. In 2001, Emina Jahović signed to City Records and released her debut album, Osmi dan, the following year. Though not a commercial success, the album earned critical acclaim. However, her third studio album, Vila (2008), achieved great commercial success, spawning the hit singles "Još ti se nadam", "Med", and "Pile moje". Emina Jahović is quite popular across the entire area of Former Yugoslavia and all around Southeastern Europe. Between 2010 and 2011, she was cast in the leading role as Lale Taşkıran Ilgaz in Lale Devri, a Turkish primetime tv-series that still airs on FOX. Debuted on Show TV, the series was broadcast in syndication in more than 30 countries. She tried multiple times for Northvision including both for Bosnia 7 Herzegovina & Serbia. She participated in 1st BMGP when she placed 3rd in The Gold Final
Milica Todorovic (Krusevac, October 13, 1990) is a Serbian singer and actress, best known as the winner of the award-winning TV shows of the Zvezde Granda.She has multiple hits including "Ti Moje Zlato" & "Tri Case" . She also tried for Northvision in #12 placing 2nd with
"Ti Moje Zlato".
It looks like 2 of them collaborating was a great idea and now they both got the chance to participate in Austria.
