Announcements & Applications
SMK will once again be held by YLE to determine the Finnish representative at the upcoming 24th edition of the North Vision Song Contest. The broadcaster has decided to introduce several changes to the format. First and foremost: the addition of international juries separated from the public vote. Nations from not just Europe, but from around the world will be able to apply for a position as jury for the first time since the introduction of the SMK format. YLE will then make a selection of who they perceive would be the best juries, taking into account cultural differences, as well as other factors. Each jury will rate the songs with 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 and 2 points - leaving three songs without points.
The Songs
About 900 songs were submitted to YLE this edition, and the selection has been narrowed down to 10. The songs will be announced over the next week, with two songs being revealed at a time.

The Juries
11 countries will be chosen as international juries for this edition of SMK. Depending on the amount of applicants, a maximum of two spots may be taken by associate broadcasters. All juries will be revealed after the final two songs have been announced, so you have until 11 November 2017 at 18:00 CET to apply.
