SUPER SUNDAY ENTRIES Here is an overview of the entries that were selected today. Finland: SMK ended with Felin and her song "Gossip" winning the selection.Felin was the International Juries' favourite entry and placed second in the Finnish Televoting.
She received a total amount of 158 points beating Ritari who were in second with 132 points.
The Netherlands: Noordvisie Song Festival was won by Rosemary & Garlic and their song "Blue Boy"8 acts competed in the Grand Final of the selection, including big names like Ilse De Lange and Gina Kushka.
Rosemary & Garlic were the big favourite of the 30 Music Professionals receiving a total of 150 points.
Greece: Kaylynn is returning for Greece. Kaylynn is no stranger to the North Vision stage, as she has participated before in the 19th edition of the contest, finishing 17th in the semi-final. She was born at Athens on February 14, 1992. As a young woman, she graduated from a music shool and started learning to play the piano, flute and the guitar on her own. At a young age she also started writing her own lyrics and music. She expirimented with many diffirent music types with her manager's help. She started professionally singing in 2014. The Greek broadcaster selected her song "The Dragging" to represent the country. Serbia: RTS selected Sara Jo (formerly: Sara Jovanović) to represent the country in Rotterdam. Following the footsteps of Kovic, Sara Jo will be starting right in the Grand Final as part of the Big 6. Her song is called "Lava". Cyprus: Since forming in 2014, Sound Of Thieves have been turning heads wherever they go. Using just a small loop-station and an electric bass as the backbone for their sound, the duo creates huge musical textures, along with hypnotizing beats and searing vocals that captivate and mesmerize listeners everywhere.
For the 26th edition of Northvision, Sound of Thieves were asked by the Cypriot broadcaster to represent the country on the big stage. Their song is called "Freedom" Faroe Islands: After the return of Sangur vár til NVSC, Heidrik was victorious out of the bunch of 6 acts in the national final.He won both the vote of the International Juries aswell as the Faroese televoters. He will now represent the Faroe Islandsin the Netherlands with his song "Maria's Donkey". Switzerland: SRG SSR, Switzerland's broadcaster picked the duo BOY from Zürich to represent the country on the big stage
in the Netherlands. BOY will be singing their song "Fear" written by Joachim Zunke and Benedikt Schnermann.
Morocco: The country's broadcaster revealed Imane el Halouat as their entrant. She will be representing the country
with an alternative ballad called "I Will Be Waiting".
Denmark: Mattis was the big winner of the Danish National Selection "Dansk Melodi Grand Prix".
After the exciting show and voting, his song "Loverboy" was announced as the winner of the selection.
He placed first with 216 points from the International Jury Groups in front of Ida Kudo who placed second with 208 points.

Imane El Halouat to represent Morocco
Aïn Sebaâ, Casablanca - September 16, 1955WEST
Driven entirely by Imane's voice of sheer innocence, just two guitars and a haunting lo-fi production, Morocco's entry for this rendition of the North Vision Song Contest marks a monumental change of artistic direction for not just Morocco, but for any country in the contest.
Imane El Halouat is a singer-songwriter who hails from the Moroccan city of Meknes, and very recently moved to France to further pursue her career in music. Within the underground Moroccan music scene, she is known for her covers of multiple alternative songs from the West - including songs by bands such as Radiohead and Cocteau Twins, and solo artists such as Björk.
On top of this, Imane also produces and writes her own material, while also collaborating with other alternative projects in both France and Morocco such as Walesox and I.R.O.K. She is also part of the Diapazone collective which includes other Moroccan artists who have been highlighted by 2M TV as potential future participants.
The song Imane will perform in Rotterdam is an original acoustically-driven piece, an unusual diversion from her own material. Presumably recorded in one take, her song is a melodic journey that passes by themes of love, longing and desire. But what makes this love song stand out is the unique production and composition - something that has never been seen before in North Vision.
The stripped-back production is exactly what makes this song so poignant and raw. With just Imane's piercing voice reminiscent of purity and divinity, combined with the acoustic and electric guitars that carry the song along its unique progression, the only term that can be used to describe it is "transcendent."
Since the 20th edition, Morocco has always been in the final, ending a string of poor results. Given Morocco's recent success and hosting of the previous edition, 2M TV has had its budget drained out and therefore want to use the coming editions to send lesser known acts and experiment with different styles of music, no matter what results they get. When asked what would happen if Morocco returned to their bad set of previous results, the head of the Moroccan delegation simply replied: "We'll be around for a long time, we're certain of that."
Imane El Halouat and her song were officially approved by the North Broadcasting Union on July 4. Without further ado, 2M TV presents to you the amazing songstress that will be carrying the Moroccan dream:

I didn't expect them to appear in the forum anytime in general.  They're pretty good, but this song was so often on the radio (and sometimes still is) that I got very bored of it! As if that was a surprise  . Anyway as mentioned before, it was a really tough selection. I liked my top 3 equally (and as he was the #1 favourite Heidrik was 3rd). I'd have been happy with either one of those 3.  Isn't that one overused already? and In both my 4th place won (in both cases not a surprising winner btw.  ). In the latter one's case I like the winner while the other one isn't for me (the 2nd and 3rd were my top 2...). That one's imho the worst of today's entries. :/ I find it really messy.
Also Finland's televoting video isn't working for me. |
