Zuzu & Elza Seyidcahan - Mən aktyoram (I am an actor) (2006)

For the 3rd time this decade, Azerbaijan will get involved in the contest with a rock song, but this time by a female duo of Elza Seyidcahan and Zuzu. Mən aktyoram is a portrayal of a life from nihilistic/pessimistic perspective where human lives are compared to the performances of actors in the movies. The song illustrates that us human beings, as actors in the movies, change our roles too often and do wildest possible/unimaginable things in order to get what we want. Perhaps this is one of the most meaningful songs I have ever sent to the contest, hence I am happy those who participated in my national selection appreciated it. I wish good luck to each participant!

Today's Date: 15th of July 2018.

Exactly 44 years ago, back in 1974, the Cypriot coup d'état, aiming for the annexation of the island by Greece was operated. Who would have thought that 5 days later, the 20th of July, the Turkish military troops would land on the northern coast of the island, in Kyrenia and until the ceasefire obtained thanks to the United Nations the 22nd of July, they would have occupied 3% of our territory... Who could have predicted that the 14th of August, the 2nd stage of the invasion would lead to approximately 37% being occupied until today by the Turks; so many people died fighting for our freedom, many are yet to be found and hundreds had to leave their houses and become refugees... All this being the aftermath of the "1974 Peace Operation", as claimed by the Turkish Cypriots .

This is why Evridiki is singing in our own lovely Greek Cypriot dialect her song "As En Tziai Mian Foran".
