Cyprus will go alternative again! Art pop, new wave, glam rock, synthpop, post-punk. Those are some of the genres that I have most probably never tried out in this contest. Those are also the genres describing the band which will represent Cyprus.
The band Japan will represent us next edition with their unconventional song, 'Ghosts'. The band members are David Sylvian (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steve Jansen (drums), Richard Barbieri (keyboards) and Mick Karn (bass guitar). Mick Karn is from Cyprus. The song comes from the album 'Tin Drum' which was certified gold by BPI and charted in United Kingdom, Japan, Norway and Sweden. The song 'Ghosts' reached No. 5 of the British charts, becoming their biggest domestic hit. I hope you like it

ITALIAN ENTRY
”Bella Ciao”
I think that an explanation about this song is needed; this is a famous Italian folk song, known by almost everyone that was written by Italian Partisans during WW2. The partisans were the members of the Italian resistance movement and fought against the nazi-fascist occupation in Italy. The song became quite famous in the last period thanks to the Spanish TV show “La casa de papel” but the reason why I’m proposing it right now is different: I believe that everyone should remember the hundreds of partisans that lost their lives in order to free us from oppression!

A Reggae song for SwitzerlandI originally wasn't going to participate, but looking outside and at the temperature made me think different. Right now it's 35 degrees outside and what fits better than some Reggae (also haven't sent that genre yet). As a result it was decided that our by far most successful artist in that genre, Dodo, will represent his country in the United Kingdom with his debut song Robinsong: 2:38+ It was used for the first edition of a successful reality-TV Show back in 1998 (something about surviving on an island in style of Robinson Crusoe). The second edition was taken, but never shown until today as the Tv-station went bancrupt during the shot. Image: Dodo

FRANCE WILL SEND... Hélène Segara and Laura Pausini!Although if this is not her best song, I wanted to send Laura one time with the only duo she made with a French artist so far. By the way, I'm quite surprised that Hélène and Laura haven't worked together another time after that because their personalities fit very well: they are both humble, very friendly and extremely funny. The video I will use is this one (made with the sound of the studio version and images from different shows where they appeared together): Timeslot: 3:41For the image, you can combine these ones: I also wanted to show you a live version where Laura and Hélène swapped their lyrics (so Laura sang the French solos and Hélène the Italian ones) and where we can see that Laura is a human being because she made a mistake with the lyrics at 2:01 : Another cute version with the 15 year old Caroline Costa during the same tour: And for Vinx a cover of Bella Ciao by the Corsican singer Battista Acquaviva. There are many others of course, included in France.
