POLITICS OF ATLANDIA
The Commonwealth of Atlandia consists of three self-governing political entities:
- Borgine Republic
- Leowé Islands
- New Litua
The country is governed by the President and the National Parliament (201 seat), both of which
are elected by the people through the nation-wide elections every 5 years.
All MNPs are elected through their party lists.
Every 4 years, there are local elections in each of the entities.
BORGINE REPUBLIC
Borgine nationals elect the Parliament of the Borgine Republic (100 seats).
All MPBRs are elected individually.
There are 200 districts and each one of them is represented at the parliament.
The MP-elects vote publicly and choose the next Prime Minister of the Borgine Republic,
who becomes both the Chairman of Parliament and the Head of Government.
However, the Prime Minister cannot vote on any laws, meaning there
are 99 active members of the Parliament left.
LEOWÉ ISLANDS
Leowé nationals elect the Parliament of the Leowé Islands (61 seat).
All MPLIs are elected individually.
There are 61 voting districts and each one of them is represented at the parliament.
The MP-elects vote publicly and choose the next Prime Minister of the Leowé Islands,
who becomes both the Chairman of Parliament and the Head of Government.
The Prime Minister has to approve all the laws the Parliament votes on.
NEW LITUA
Lituan nationals elect the 12-seat Lituan Cabinet and the Governor of the New Litua.
The Cabinet acts as both the Parliament and the Government of the entity.
Until 2015, New Litua was considered to be an autonomous part of the Borgine Republic.
However, since the number of Lituan nationals residing in the country went up to 800 thousand,
a referendum took place, where 72% of residents have voted in favour of the creation of the
third political entity of the Commonwealth.
THE PRESIDENTIAL COUNCIL
President of the Commonwealth is the Head of State and also the Head of Foreign Affairs of the country.
Therefore, before proposing laws of key importance, the President is advised to call up
The Presidential Council for a meeting in Aurendamm.
The Council is made up of the Heads of Governments of the three political entities:
Prime Minister of the Borgine Republic, Prime Minister of the Leowé Islands and Governor of the New Litua.
