CANDIDATES ANNOUNCEMENT INFE Azerbaijan has so far announced 16 candidates who are likely to represent Azerbaijan in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Most of the candidates have participated in either previous National Selections or "The Voice Azerbaijan" TV Show. Notwithstanding the fact that the official lists of potential entrants are not known, it is expected that one of these candidates will be our next representive. It should be noted that all of the previous INFE Azerbaijan announcements included Azerbaijani singer for Eurovision Song Contest, hence the source is considered highly reliable. Without further talking, here are 16 candidates from Azerbaijan: 1. Emiliya Yaqubova Emiliya Yaqubova is mostly known as the winner of the first edition of "The Voice Azerbaijan". After the show she has collaborated with, in particular, Baku Music Factory and released a number of new songs. 2. Rauf & Faik Mirzayev Born in Russia in 1999, the twin brothers rose to popularity after the internet release of their single "Love Remained Yesterday". They mainly sing in Russian, with "Detstvo" (trans: "Childhood) as their arguably the most famous single. 3. Samira Efendi Known as the finalist of the first edition of "The Voice Azerbaijan", Samira attempted to represent Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest a number of times. She has a strong, if not the strongest public support in comparison with other hitherto declared candidates. 4. Maryam Shabanova Maryam participated in "Land of Fire 2010" National Selection of Azerbaijan for the Eurovision Song Contest, where she achieved to advance to the final round. She is also a composer at the same time, and collaborates with Grigoriy Leps most often. 5. Vlada Ahundova Vlada took part in the Eurovision National Selections of Azerbaijan twice, in 2012 and 2013. Tofig Hajiyev Tofig participated in Eurovision National Selections of Azerbaijan twice, in 2011 and 2012. Altun Zeynalov Participating in the National Selection in 2012, Altun Zeynalov is the only candidate specializing in the genre of rock. Many ESC fans in Azerbaijan believe that his representation could be a milestone in Azerbaijan's ESC journey, as we could finally send something different than usual. 9. Ruslan Alishan Ruslan has participated in "Böyük Səhnə" (2014); "The Voice Azerbaijan" (2016) and "O Ses Türkiye" ("The Voice Turkey") (2016) He is also engaged in modelling. 10. I recognize Rilaya (like most of the forum - 'cause Nvsc ) plus there are a couple of people we had in Wwwsc before(?). Rilaya also participated in the first ever Azerbaijani National Selection for WWWSC (for 31st edition) with her song "Niyə". In total, 4 candidates have represented Azerbaijan in WWWSC: Maryam Shabanova (#42; I have had enough); Altun Zeynalov (#45; I looked for myself); (Samira) Efendi (#61; Tocame) and Narmin Karimbayova (#65; Qələbənin yolları) The former two did not advance to the final round as opposed to the latter two. Moreover, Altun Zeynalov is responsible for one of the last places of Azerbaijan in the contest (which was very undeserved, imo) and Narmin has recently brought a top 10 placing for the country

UPDATE The official list of Azerbaijani National Selection finalists was published by the INFE Azerbaijan today. Accordingly, the Azerbaijani representative in ESC 2019 in Tel Aviv will either be Tofiq Hajiyev, Samira Efendi or Araz Humbatli. Considering Araz was not in the initial list of INFE Azerbaijan, I would like to provide brief information about him. Mr. Hümbətli became known in Azerbaijan and France after his participation in the Voice France, where he performed "Wicked Games" by Chris Isaak in Blind Auditions, mixing the song with Azerbaijani folk composition - mugham. Despite being eliminated at a later stage, he was remembered for his incredible voice and distinct musical direction. He has returned to Azerbaijan thereafter, performing in mostly, Yarat Contemporary Art Space in Baku, singing folk, psychedelic and jazz music. Currently, the ESC audience of Azerbaijan have divided opinions on our potential representatives. While Tofig Hajiyev is supported by an overwhelming minority, Araz and Samira seem to be most, yet equally, liked by the public opinion. Moreover, the newly appointed Head of Delegation of Azerbaijan announced that she is "one of those persons who want Azerbaijan to send a "local product" to the Eurovision Song Contest the most"
