Over the past few weeks,

RÚV has been working on a simple statistics project that has been done before, and with the conclusion of the semi-finals of the 26th edition, it was a perfect time to reveal it.

Of course, we're talking about qualification rates. In the list, this includes every time that a country has qualified to the final out of the amount of editions it participated in. North Vision has seen 57 countries take to the stage at least once, and every country has qualified at least once to the grand final.

Qualification rate: The amount of times a country has qualified to the final out of it's appearances in the semi-finals. Some little notes:
-Being automatically qualified to the final doesn't count towards a country's rate here.
-Failing from the PQR doesn't count towards a country's qualification rate as the country never had the chance to qualify from the semi-finals in the first place.

Some interesting trivia I found while making this (#26):

Andorra,

Denmark,

Norway,

Sweden and

Ukraine are the only countries to never miss an edition.

Tunisia had the lowest qualification rate during it's run between #08 and #16, only qualifying once out of 9 attempts, giving it 11%.
Out of the regular participants, of course

Sweden has the highest qualification rate with 96%, having missed the final once in 26 editions, in #07.

Hong Kong has 100%, but the country only participated as an automatic qualifier in both cases, between #20-21.

While

Egypt has the lowest qualification rate of 17%, as the country has only participated 6 times,

Bosnia & Herzegovina is the least successful country in North Vision, as out of their 25 appearances, they have only qualified to the final 6 times, giving them a 24% qualification rate.

Ukraine's final streak consists of 6 AQs in a row, from #6-12, which hasn't been accomplished again since.

Sweden on the other hand has the most AQs of any participant, getting top 5/6 12 times, although 1 of them was in the 1st edition where

Sweden was already qualified to the final as part of the top 3.

Bosnia & Herzegovina has the lowest qualification rate for a winning country.
Out of

Morocco's 9 qualifications, 7 were between #20 and 26; 3/7 were in the big 6 and 6 of them were held by the same head of delegation.

Montenegro is the country that is waiting the longest for a qualification. As of the 26th edition, the last time

Montenegro participated in a final was in the 13th edition, which was held in 2015.

Continuing on

Montenegro, the country has the longest non qualification streak currently, having failed to qualify 11 times in a row.

Georgia previously held such a record, as it took the country 11 non-qualifications to finally make it to the final.

The list will be updated after the semi-finals of each edition!

Some important changes were made while calculating these percentages. Apart from the obvious split in the 2 lists, the changes were:

AQs will not count under "qualification rate" because the song was already qualified to the final. So all countries that got an AQ at least once have been changed and updated to the current edition (#27). However, AQs will count under "final rates" because, of course, the songs appeared in the final.

I've decided to remove failing to qualify from the PQR on both rankings here, but especially in the qualification rates category as I felt that since the song never had the chance to qualify from the semi-finals, it shouldn't be counted under a country's total amount of times participating in the semi-final. I've decided to remove them as well from the finals rate as well, for the same reason above. I feel that with songs that failed to qualify from the PQR, it shouldn't count towards your total amount of entrants. However, this is debatable and I could add it back into #28, but for now I've decided to leave them out. This is why some countries' rates actually increased, most noticeably

Tunisia, which went from 11% to 17%, now tied with

Egypt for the lowest final rate.

Other minor changes:

Liechtenstein was removed from the list because the country doesn't participate anymore. Should they ever return, I will add them back to the list. The same goes for

Hong Kong. Meanwhile,

Tunisia will be coming back in the 28th edition, so they will continue to be counted from now.

Given it's late, there could be mistakes. I will fix them in the next update if so

Well it looks like there's a statistics page already on the wiki and has the amount of times a country has been in a final so meh

I continue editing though since exact rates aren't on the wiki.. the semi-final 1 and AQs of #28 have been updated, semi-final 2 plus some trivia coming when the results are out.

Since the results of the 2nd semi-final are out, the rates have been updated as well.

Some ~~useless~~ interesting facts:

It's no secret that after

Tunisia qualified to the final, their rate would go up. However, it was quite a significant rise as

Tunisia got +12%, the highest climber this edition.

And because of that,

Egypt now holds the lowest qualification rate, with just 17%. Originally,

Montenegro had the worst rate with just 14%, but after the country qualified to the final, their rate increased to 18%. Another thing to note is that

Montenegro hasn't been seen in a North Vision final since the 13th edition, which was held in spring of 2015, exactly 4 years ago. This is the longest time a country has gone without qualifying, even longer than

Georgia, who failed to qualify for 12 consecutive editions.

Monaco is now the country that has the longest non-qualification streak. The country hasn't been in a final since #16. Although the country withdrew between #18-22, they have failed to qualify in #16, 17, 23-28.

The biggest drop this edition was just by 4%, which was achieved by

Denmark.

Norway and

Sweden's final and qualification rates remain the same.

Unfortunately for

Morocco, their streak ended after being in the final 8 times in a row.
No surprise,

Sweden still holds the longest Q streak in the contest, because they only failed to qualify once, in #7 (crazy)

Andorra is the most successful microstate in the contest (shook!). They are also the only country that has participated in every edition that hasn't won yet.

By qualification rate and final appearances,

North Macedonia remains the highest from ex-Yugoslavia, even after their non-qualification this edition. Although the highest in the Balkans is

Romania.

With the conclusion of the semi-finals of the 29th edition, the list has once again been updated.

As usual, some boring facts:

Tunisia is once again our biggest climber, gaining 9% due to their second consecutive final. Well done hun, keep it up x

A massive streak has ended this edition.

Monaco finally managed to qualify to the final for the first time since the 16th edition, which was held almost 4 years ago.

Norway's rate stays the same. Interestingly enough,

Sweden increased by 1% (crazy)

Egypt's rate has fallen due to their non-qualification this edition, now sitting at 14%.

With

Monaco qualifying to the final,

Egypt and

Estonia now have the longest non-qualification streaks since they haven't been in a final since #22. If

Portugal didn't qualify, they would have had the longest streak since they haven't been in a final since the 20th edition.

Moldova's qualification streak has also ended. They qualified to the final every edition since #16, which was also held 4 years ago.

I don't really have that much interesting trivia this time, so like always let's see a few changes:

Tunisia's rise is starting to slow down, it has now increased it's final appearances by 6%, well done hun again x
The biggest rise other than

Tunisia is

Montenegro who finally has a qualification rate over 20%.

Egypt remains the lowest unfortunately (14%), but since they failed to qualify from the PQR they didn't have a chance to improve this edition. Maybe next time x

The biggest drop in final rates is actually the

Faroe Islands, dropping by 4%, although there are a few countries who dropped by 3% in the semi-finals.

Another interesting note is how some countries are rising for the first time since I started to do the qualification rates every edition since #26.

Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia Hungary and Russia have all risen for the first time, which is no surprise given that their last qualifications were in the 24th and 25th editions respectively. Welcome back to the final!

Estonia has additionally ended their non-qualification streak after 2 years. Congratulations!

Egypt now holds the longest non-qualification streak which is ongoing.

Austria unfortunately ended their long streak of finals, as the country has been in the final every edition since #23.

Australia technically has a 100% finals rate however I will not include them unless they become a permanent member or automatically qualify for next edition.

Interesting facts about this edition:

Azerbaijan and

Malta both ended their streaks which lasted nearly 3 years this edition. The last time both countries qualified was in the

23rd edition. Congratulations!
With the departure of

Egypt from the contest, now

Latvia has the longest non-qualification streak as the country hasn't been seen in the final since the 24th edition.

The highest increases were both

Algeria and

Malta as they've now gone up by 4%.
A special mention to

Montenegro, who now has their longest streak ever in the contest and their rate has been increasing since the 28th edition. Will it continue into the 32nd edition? Only time will tell

Something that was mentioned in the Discord chat was about the countries that have AQd in the contest.

Malta is the most recent country to get their first AQ (and of course, their best result). But which countries haven't received an AQ in the contest? The following countries have never AQd before:

Armenia
Belarus
Egypt
Georgia
Monaco
Portugal

Portugal wouldn't be on this list had the top 6 existed in the earlier editions of the contest, as the country placed 6th in the first edition. To this day, it remains

Portugal's best result in the contest. However given

Portugal's recent success, will that change as well?

And sadly,

Andorra has ended their streak. The country has been in the final every edition since the 23rd edition.

Australia keeps their 100% obviously.
