She’s disgusted with something she  has done before or is currently doing, and ultimately punishes herself to recompense but doesn’t feel like anything will be enough to erase her guilt.

 gilded shrimp: they took something live and plagued it with vanity, also biblical reference to shrimp which are considered sinful to eat as old testament says; basically she sees the shrimp and recognizes her own (or her species’ own wrongdoings) 
stabbing: after she’s had enough with living with the sin or wrongdoing (represented by shrimp) she stabs the shrimp/rock, which cuts to a scene of her being like choked in the air and thrown around and bleeding; her causing the bleeding makes me think of self-flagellation for sin, going back to biblical references.
fighting to get the fish back in the water in beginning: Basically, she doesn’t agree with this practice of fishing and making the fish a vanitized version with gold and stuff (sin?)

she can’t get up in end: she just lays theres and bleeds, she looks defeated, makes no effort to stop blood or anything, and ryan sings “i’m stuck in yesterday’s wake” which makes me believe that she thinks nothing she can do can really make things better

- black blood: her blood is contaminated, she’s done evil, just like the rest of the people.
