Spain is not going to be present in the upcoming edition.
It has been confirmed by TVE that Spain is not going to be present in the upcoming edition of North Vision Song Contest. Financial difficulties have affected the broadcaster, which is given the reason Spain is withdrawing next edition. A potential return in the 29th edition has not been ruled out.

ÖSTERREICH NIMMT SICHER TEIL! After the grandiose and marvellous eight place achieved by Anja Plaschg alias Soap&Skin in Odessa, the Austrian delegation were able to confirm the continued participation in their neighbouring country Switzerland. IT'S LITTLE BIG SEA! Little Big Sea are a Vienna/Berlin based duo who show themselves with a new sound that is inspired by francophonic pop-chansons of the 60s and melodies the early 90s, heavily learning from the works by Francoise Hardy and France Gal in their doing. Thier sound is contemporary yet has a will on its own, this shows in their evolution: What used to be space for synthesizers now is filled with rhythmic bass lines, guitars hooks and decent electronic sounds. The band members originate from Bavaria and have since moved to Vienna, albeit living in Berlin parallel and producing their songs in both cities. One of their fixations lie with the lyrical artwork and presentation of storylines: Marlene Weber, main vocalist of the band, expresses herself through personal stories. Sometimes in big, historic pictures, and sometimes so intimately close. But always driven with the narrative purpose and force that makes Little Big Sea so special. ORF has confirmed that the song chosen as the eventual entry is included in their upcoming EP " Stranger Places" which will be out on April 12th, making ten original songs open to be sent for Austria. The entry itself will be chosen internally by a team of professionals and the music video published by the Austrian team. The entry will be revealed on 12th April 2019, the same day their album is released and they will perform in the Vienna Concert Hall. Published on 27/03/2019 in Vienna : Austria. © Dimitris ♡

Avverarsi29/03/19 • PodgoricaFollowing a teaser a few weeks ago, with simply the word "avverarsi" and a date, the 29th March 2019, the time has now come to hear the very first North Vision entry of the 28th edition - coming from Montenegro. So what song will be heading to Switzerland when NVSC goes to the country for the third time in the contest's history?
The answer is MAiKA, a five-piece group consisting of Montenegrin and Croatian members, based in Belgrade. With their electrifying fusion of traditional Balkan roots and glitchy dance beats, MAiKA is pushing the envelope of the so called "world music" genre and their intoxicating stage presence has gained them a cult following across the Balkans and even parts of western Europe. The dazzling interplay of punk guitar riffs and g-word accordion, together with screaming female vocals on top of throbbing bass lines turns their every concert into a banging dancefloor mayhem.
The group consists of Luka Lopicic (accordion, synth), Nikola Vukotic (drums, programming), Ida Prester (vocal), Petar Stojanovic (bass guitar), Dušan Murišić (trumpet) and Silvija Stanišić (vocals). The song they will be performing at NVSC is from their debut album, Balkannibalism, titled "River Sava". Speaking of the song, a spokesperson for RTCG said, "As soon as we heard the song, we knew this was something special that we wanted to share with the rest of Europe. We are very passionate about providing the contest with a diverse range of entries and 'River Sava', in contrast with our previous entries, certainly does that. We wish them and everybody else the best of luck in Switzerland!"
You can listen to "River Sava" below. We hope you enjoy!

However, this would become one of Montenegro's only four final appearances, and the following 8 edition saw non-qualifications and one withdrawal. The 10th edition brought some surprising and much needed success, and "Odlazim" by Andrea Demirović winning the semi-final and then coming 5th in the grand final brought an unlikely automatic qualification to the Montenegrin track record.
The first and only Montenegrin AQ was widely celebrated, and Jelena Tomašević put up a respectable performance of her entry "Radio Svira Za Nas" and gave the country another 20th place. A withdrawal followed in the 12th edition, but Jelena Kažanegra oversaw the Montenegrin return for NVSC 13 and reached what would be Montenegro's last final to date, finishing in 23rd place. Goga Sekulić and Jasmin Jusić's "Vuče, Lopove" came close to qualifying in the following edition, and a respectable 12th in the semi-final followed from "Preventiva" by Anabela and Boban Rajović, but so far there has been no such luck for Montenegro and it has now been 14 editions since they've seen the final. The 27th edition under another new delegation saw Montenegro get the closest they'd got to the final since Goga and Jasmin with SPACETRAIN's "An Ode to Music".
