TUNISIA RETURNS! As member of the NBU the broadcaster Télévision Tunisienne 1 officially confirmed that Tunisia the North-African country would return to the Northvision stage after previously withdrawing back in the seventeenth edition after a series of failures to reach the final under the Nessma broadcasting company. This shouldn't come as a surprise after the official announcement of the NBU earlier this month stating that Tunisia would be able to return.
It has been rumoured the broadcaster opted to go for an Internal Selection and that the artist(s) already have been selected. It is just a matter of time for the entry to be released. The Head of Delegation Jeesim al-Ridwan stated that the whole team is excited to show Europe how the Tunisian music industry has changed during their absence of the last 11 editions.Tunisia has participated a total of nine times since it's debut in the 8th edition. This was and still is the only edition in which Tunisia qualified to the final ending at the 17th place. The editions after weren't doing Tunisia any favours, the country had to endure eight non-qualifications, three of which were pre-qualification round non-qualifications. After so many failures the NBU and the Nessma broadcasting company decided to end the Tunisian participation, starting from the seventeenth edition on. Germany CONFIRMS!Cologne, 29th January: After returning last edition, WDR has no intent of taking a break again anytime soon. "We're here to stay" was claimed by the HoD during the press conference. "We are still awaiting the results for our fabulous representatives from last edition, COSBY, but no matter what happens, we are proud of them and of our entry!" The broadcaster did not reveal whether another internal selection or a national selection will be held. In the past, Germany has mostly used national selections to select an entry but due to the change of broadcaster, things might look different in the future. "For the 28th edition we are still considering all of our options. A national selection is possible but we haven't made our decision yet". Stay tuned for more information!

KAZAKHSTAN WILL PARTICIPATE! Despite a seemingly hopeless situation for Kazakhstan in the current edition, NTK confirmed today that the most European country Kazakhstan will participate in the 28th edition. The current Head of Delegation announced radical changes in the way of selection.
AYENFESTIVALI In the last three edition NTK chose their entry for the North Vision Song Contest internally with the help of up to 25 international Head of Delegations. As that way of selection wasn't successful, NTK decided to bring back "Äwenfestïvali" which was used from the 15th to the 22nd and in the 24th edition. However, the national selection now has a new name -"Áýenfestıvali"- as the Kazakh alphabet has changed, and a new logo. The format will be revealed at a later date.

Israel's Idan Raichel was unfortunately (and totally unexpected ) eliminated in the PQR of edition #27. Just like in the last few editions, Israel's participation will be decided after the results of the grand final. This is due to several internal circumstances coming up such as the retirement of the Co-HoD. In the meantime we wish all the best to all the countries that are competing in the semi finals of Nvsc #27. [/div]

ICELAND CONFIRMS!
After successfully qualifying to the semi-finals in Odessa, RÚV has confirmed that Iceland will be taking part in the contest without a doubt.
Despite ending in the pre-qualification round as a result of the 17th place achieved in the 26th edition, the country managed to be one of the 5 qualifiers from the pre-qualification round which was held in Montenegro. Now, Iceland is currently predicted to qualify from the 1st semi-final according to the odds, where Himbrimi are representing the country with their song Tearing.
When asked about participation in the 28th edition this morning, the HoD, Dýri Brjánsson announced that: Given that we have already conquered the biggest obstacle for the 27th edition, the pre-qualification round, there was no doubt that Iceland would be present in the upcoming edition. Even if we fail to qualify, we still consider the 27th edition a success already, given that we managed to make it to the semi-finals.
When asked about a possible return of the national selection format, Mr. Brjánsson stated: We are currently evaluating all options available to us, and that includes a return of our national selection. However, for the national selection to return, big changes would have to be made to the structure of the selection and especially the voting. Although the format has worked for us, it isn't getting any better, and thus changes must be made, especially after we ended 17th in the 26th edition.
The broadcaster has yet to decide how they will choose Iceland's act. It's expected that the selection format will be revealed after the semi-final results, and the broadcaster has stated that Iceland's result in the semi-final will influence how they will choose their act.
Stay tuned for more news! - Reykjavík, Iceland. 29th January 2019.
