Krampu$$y Challenge: Disney Realness (S2E3)
Call me, Beep me • the "Kim Possible" soundtrack
1:16+
I chose this song for several reasons. First of all, it's a childhood bop and represents the 00s Disney for me. Most of us grew up with Kim Possible I assume and to me Disney always represented my childhood for me. During the S2 challenge, a lot of people sent ballads with different degrees of cheesiness so I think this song is a different and perhaps more original approach as it is uptempo and not your everyday cliché Disney ballad. Additionally, I think competing in a week like this with a Disney song is harder than competing against other Disney songs was and to me this has a bigger chance at standing out than the other choices I considered.

OVERGROWN
by machineheart for the Colour Festival : BLUE (S02W08)
Timeslot 3:58+ Blue is usually seen as the colour of tranquillity, intelligence but also depression and depth. To me, this song encompasses all of this, but borrows elements from other colours, namely green in it's pre-story elements: growth, obviously, is green, but overgrowth can lead to depression and core blue elements. The song has turned into a post-green state and turned blue while aspiring to break out of its status-quo. The blue that is this song aspires to become a flaming and vivid red, with all its passion to flee the dark past!
And I've been hiding for so long With only darkness everyday I'm gonna crawl to the morning sun And let it warm every part of me
In its core essence, 'Overgrown' as stated by the artists themselves, "more than anything, is a feeling; it's a place I pictured in my head". It touches a place deep inside of my heart as I still aspire to cut the weeds, the traces, the chains that have been in this place for years.
Any dead ended road One step closer to home
I have highlighted some of the lyrics I deemed most important in the context of this song, being an anthem of emotional intelligence but also a fairly melancholic side of it. Click the spoiler for the full lyrics:
Someone crying in the dead of the night Was it me or was it just in my mind Reaching deep into the soil I find I'm stirring awake a fury
Maybe I'm the only one who survived Crawled out of the dark and into the light As I turn my face and look to the sky A tear in my eye is forming
Shaking off all those heavy chains Now I will find my own way
Turning the ground underneath me to show what I am Pushing and breaking my way from the hand of the man Nothing to fear being here, now that I'm overgrown, overgrown, overgrown
When they try to lay me low Down into the dirt I go But don't fight it They were just giving me The very thing I would need
Try to tell me what I can and cannot do Who to be and do not be It'll drive me to the brink Any dead ended road One step closer to home
Shaking off all those heavy chains Now I will find my own way
Turning the ground underneath me to show what I am Pushing and breaking my way from the hand of the man Nothing to fear being here, now that I'm overgrown, overgrown, overgrown
And I've been hiding for so long With only darkness everyday I'm gonna crawl to the morning sun And let it warm every part of me And I've been hiding for so long With only darkness everyday I'm gonna crawl to the morning sun And let it warm every part of me
Turning the ground underneath me to show what I am Pushing and breaking my way from the hand of the man Nothing to fear being here, now that I'm overgrown, overgrown

Stan Kan McCann ■ S04 : W09 : Summertime Sadness ■ Send a song that raises awareness for a mental illness.
2:50+
■ Zola Jesus ■ "Siphon" ■ The song "Siphon" is about saving someone who has attempted suicide. In Zola`s case, she wrote it about a family member who attempted to commit suicide for a second time.
This is a touching issue for many of those who know someone who has attempted suicide, due to the sadness and sorrow that overcomes them. For those who have actually attempted to commit suicide, the thoughts of how their family and friends would react is something that many people in that position struggle with when they`re at one of the grimmest points of their life.
In Ireland, there are 12,000 attempted suicides a year, in the United States, there are 1.4 million attempts yearly.
The song starts off slowly and slowly builds up to a cathartic release of the song`s eerie and ethereal climax which truly lets out all of the dread and remorse felt.
If you are in a position where you feel as if you or someone you know may be in a position of committing suicide, I urge you to please contact one of the international hotlines provided.
You write a note, we write a eulogy
[...] Can`t let you bleed out, won`t let you bleed out
Full lyrics:
You write a note, we write a eulogy You drain it out, we clean it up for free Anything you need, we're at the door Just call our name and we're at the floor Waiting for the call
'Cause we'd rather clean the blood of a living man We'd rather lean over, hold your warm, warm hand We'd love to clean the blood of a living man We'd hate to see you give into those cold, dark nights inside your head
Was it a lie or did I see the light in your eyes across the table? Or did you play the part of the listening? We just want to save you Pull you from those dark nights We just want to show you there's more to life
'Cause we'd rather clean the blood of a living man We'd rather lean over, hold your warm, warm hand We'd love to clean the blood of a living man We'd hate to see you give into those cold, dark nights inside your head
Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out
'Cause we'd rather clean the blood of a living man We'd rather lean over, hold your warm, warm hand We'd love to clean the blood of a living man We'd hate to see you give into those cold, dark nights inside your head, inside your head, inside your head
Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out Won't let you bleed out, can't let you bleed out
