ÁÝENFESTIVALI FORMAT REVEALED
Today northvision.kz held an interview with the Kazakh Delegation about the upcoming new national selection for Kazakhstan in which the successor of the last edition's last placers Night Music Band will be chosen.
"[...] Why did the delegation decide to go with a national selection this edition?"
Well, we realized that our previous selection method, choosing our representative internally with the help of twenty experts, didn't work out. We received two non-qualifications with one of them being a last place. NTK, the Kazakh national broadcaster considered to cut the budget for the upcoming participation due to that failure. Therefore we see this as a last chance to bring Kazakhstan back to its successful times.
"Will there be any changes to Áýenfestivali?"
Yes. The national selection has already started in the background. We invited ten different Head of Delegations or their assistants to Kazakhstan to evaluate a total of sixteen songs. Out of them we took nine songs and added one foreign act. Those ten artists will compete in one Grand Final. Currently, all ten jury members are evaluating and ranking the ten songs once again. On Satuday, the 16th March you will be able to listen to the songs aswell."
"Ok and who is in that expert panel?"
The international jury consists of the Head of Delegations of
Ukraine, 
Portugal, 
United Kingdom, 
Denmark, 
Norway, 
Israel, 
Russia, 
, the Co-Head of delegations of 
Switzerland and 
Luxembourg. Their rankings will make up 50% of the final results. An online voting will make up the other 50%."Can you say anything to the artists?"
Yes. We have ten wonderful diverse artists including big stars like Luina, JUZIM, C.C. Tay, KeshYou and our foreign act
Zere. Two of the ten selected are in 
English, one in Kyrgyz, one in Russian and six in 
Kazakh. Actually, Jamala was planned to be the foreign act but we had to disqualify her for an uncomfortable appearance in an Ukrainian music show.""When will Kazakhstan reveal the results of the national selection?"
The results of Áýenfestivali and the Kazakh representative will be presented in April 2018.
