Maybe for Spain, but I doubt this affected Portugal in any way. They've been going full Portuguese (minus 3-4 years which included some parts in other languages), so I doubt anything has scared them away from singing in English. I'd probably say that the way RTP organizes Festival da Cancao, plus how they select their acts plays a factor in this, but considering that they've allowed English songs into the contest, and we still see a majority of the songs in Portuguese, makes me believe it's more about how Festival da Cancao has its legacy and standards, and the fact that their singers might have more confidence in their own language, rather than trying to do an "international appeal" (hence why many many Portuguese ESC entries are distinctively "Portuguese"). But yeah, in conclusion: Portugal is definitely going their own race, and the results of another language from another country probably isn't gonna affect in the near future either
