Here's my reaction to the final and the winner! I think most participants had improved their performances since the audition, which is good to see, although some of them looked more like semifinal performances (you know, let's see what jury and voters think and we'll make the according changes to the final). That's what the latvian jury member said and I completely agree with him, because this wasn't semifinal, but a final, so everyone needed to bring their A game right away. But anyway, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting (throwback to auditions). Some of the results were a bit surprising (like Seleste finishing 6th, while Driksna coming last and Miks Dukurs finishing 4th). No offence to any of the artists, but I was expecting Seleste and Miks both lower, while Driksna higher. But people have voted and I guess that's what they think. As for the jury - I would've liked a bit more strict jury, because most of the comments were flattering with only few strict one's. If it wasn't for the estonian jury member Maarja, I think this would be the softest Supernova jury ever, but once she started, others also saw, that it's fine to say something not so flattering. So thank you, Maarja, for that! I would also like to thank her for pointing out, that we should have more songs in latvian next year. Let's hope that our singers remember that. I mean, I would love to see her as a judge next year as well As for the 2 fan favorites (by the final results) - no offence to Katrīna and her song/performance, but it would have to be perfect to be really noticed on the big stage, while Samanta is Samanta - she walks on stage and you already see that she doesn't give a f**k of what you think of her. She comes on with this power of women that she sings about. I mean, she owns the stage. This is the personality I talked about, when I said, that she's a controversial singer in Latvia. Now you see why, because not everyone's ready for such attitude (if that's the right word to describe it). Also I'm gonna agree again with one of the jury members - she said that this stage was too small for her, so she should fit right in on Rotterdam stage. Overall I like our choice! I like that we're going the brave way. I didn't like the song at first, but with this performance it just makes you want to watch it over and over again. Also I just watched a few reaction videos and I like to see the shock and WTF facial expressions on their faces, when the beat drops. None of them expected that. Now THAT'S how you get attention!! Last year Hatari did it their way, Samanta does it her way! Usually it's the southern countries that bring fire to the stage - now a northern country will show it's own fire without using real fire! One last thing - finally no one will say that we've sent a toilet break song Anyway, good luck to Samanta! I know she'll make us proud! I just hope that also the juries will vote for it, not only televoters.

That song was on my shortlist for Latvia in NVSC since the day it was released (far before we knew it would participate to Supernova). According to the comments, it would probably have won my NF and brought Latvia back to the final of NVSC for the first time in 7 editions. I hope that another artist of my selection is able to break that series of NQ.
But I guess it's better for the country to be represented by this song in real world than in a virtual contest, even NVSC. So I say goodbye to Samanta in NVSC and good luck for ESC!

The best song that Latvia could have sent this year Samanta is Conan Osiris of the edition, but I hope she will have more points than my KING CONANBy the way, the best of the decade is undoubtedly "Love Injected"

Why are bookies giving this only 39th place (in other words pretty much last place)? Is it based on previous not so successful results or do they really dislike the song/performance? So far it looks like our qualifying will completely be dependent on televoting... And Italy at first doesn't really surprise, even though it doesn't seem like a winner material (it's one of my least favorite entries from them), but it will definitely do well (especially from juries), because Italy always does well, when they send male artists...

Odds are always questionable, especially at this early point where almost no songs are known, so I wouldn't give them much importance...

ESC is a live show, and that can make a huge difference. When Dami Im was announced for Australia, we only had her studio version and only a few saw her doing well but I knew that she would do something completely different live so I wasn't surprised (she was even my favourite that year). At the opposite, we have Emma for Italy who was sick the night of the contest and almost lost her voice.
