I mean Fuego wasn’t high in the odds until the rehearsals and she became a favorite after the first semifinal

Why are bookies giving this only 39th place (in other words pretty much last place)? Is it based on previous not so successful results or do they really dislike the song/performance? So far it looks like our qualifying will completely be dependent on televoting... And Italy at first doesn't really surprise, even though it doesn't seem like a winner material (it's one of my least favorite entries from them), but it will definitely do well (especially from juries), because Italy always does well, when they send male artists... ESC is a live show, and that can make a huge difference. When Dami Im was announced for Australia, we only had her studio version and only a few saw her doing well but I knew that she would do something completely different live so I wasn't surprised. Don't forget to mention that Dami rose to the top 3 in the odds.

Samanta is Samanta - she walks on stage and you already see that she doesn't give a f**k of what you think of her. She comes on with this power of women that she sings about. I mean, she owns the stage. This is the personality I talked about, when I said, that she's a controversial singer in Latvia. Now you see why, because not everyone's ready for such attitude (if that's the right word to describe it). Also I'm gonna agree again with one of the jury members - she said that this stage was too small for her, so she should fit right in on Rotterdam stage. Overall I like our choice! I like that we're going the brave way. I didn't like the song at first, but with this performance it just makes you want to watch it over and over again. Also I just watched a few reaction videos and I like to see the shock and WTF facial expressions on their faces, when the beat drops. None of them expected that. Now THAT'S how you get attention!! Last year Hatari did it their way, Samanta does it her way! Usually it's the southern countries that bring fire to the stage - now a northern country will show it's own fire without using real fire! One last thing - finally no one will say that we've sent a toilet break song Anyway, good luck to Samanta! I know she'll make us proud! I just hope that also the juries will vote for it, not only televoters. Back when I was just learning about Latvia and their music for the first few editions of NVSC...I noticed her attitude and etc that she is clearly a diva. Which made me fall in love with her material. She is a very strong woman and to say she is a Queen B. No denying on that. Good thing is that she backs it up with her amazing talent. I mean her "Stay" Grand Final performance at Dziesma 2014..that end note still gives me goosebumps. So I hope the juries will appreciate Samanta's vocals because the "bitch" has it. My only problem with "Still Breathin'" are the support vocalists. I didn't really like how they sounded and somewhat butchered the overall performance and etc. So I really hope their mics will be turned to a lower volume or Samanta ditches them or idk.. Because bad support vocals can kill you and given that they sing half the chorus while Samanta adlibs.. Very, very risky. I still support Latvia 1000% and really want the best for them. (I probably even support Latvia more than I ever did with my own country in the recent years ^^")

Some actually say that they save the song... I'm not gonna say they save it, but I also don't think they ruin it (like you pretty much mean) - I actually like them... So overall it doesn't seem to be as bad as you say it is with them... I guess it's up to the preferences of people...

Tho I remember more the semi final performance and didn't like it much there, I didn't really check the final performances tbh so they might sang differently there

--------------------------------------------------- ▲▼▲▼▲▼△▽△▽△▽ 06 // Alright
---------------------------------------------------
they just yeeted Madara out of the final 9 just like nothing
anyways, even though I had a few small favourites, I was expecting nothing than either Samanta winning, or her losing by like a couple of votes, and even though I would have loved to see Katrīna Dimanta represent Latvia instead, I am at peace with Samanta going.
First of all, Samanta as a vocalist is still absolutely fantastic, and the vocals alone builds the song, especially during the "but I grow strong" bridge. The verses aren't really amazing, but they're fine enough for me to still enjoy them. However, the bridge and chorus definitely caught my attention, as it just EXPLODES into a clusterfuck of a mess, which I kind of like. I think the reason I am not enjoying it more is because it feels a bit messy, and could have sounded a lot cleaner, but again, It's not terrible. I also feel like the bridges before the rap part and before the last chorus could have been modified better. It's slightly off compared to the first one, and that bothers me. Speaking of the rap part, when she literally raps the lyrics "Life is music, I am a composer", whomst the hell could ever hate this masterful part of the song?
Overall, I don't have much hate towards this, as much as I don't have a lot which I really love, and compared to Montaigne's 6, I am more neutral about the whole song, compared to my love-hate relation with the verses-chorus in "Don't Break Me".
THEIR CHANCES: I know that a lot of people are probably prepared to see this NQ in Rotterdam, as this might not leave the best impact on people on a first listen, but idk, I kind of see some form of international appeal in this, and the televoters might be interested in this by the end of the performance. This might not fare THAT well with the juries, but I wouldn't 100% count this one out either, but again, I really don't freaking know
Either way, I am glad for Samanta's victory, and I am READY to witness the absolute clusterfuck of a performance she'll serve later in Rotterdam. Samanta, may I finally welcome you to the Eurovision family, and I hope that you, as well as Latvia, have the best of luck in May o/
