Iran confirms! Today, it has been revealed by the Iranian broadcaster IBIR that the nation will be present in the Associate Broadcasters Final for NVSC, with hopes to get a place in the upcoming edition!
In addition, the entry and artist internally chosen will also be revealed!
It's Gola and her song 'The Line'!
Born and raised in Iran - where it is a punishable offense for women to sing or dance in public, let alone forge a career as a successful female musician - Gola has been fighting for the chance to have her music heard since she was a teenager. After studying music at university she became a member of Orchid, Iran’s first girl group, who were banned from releasing music and whose female-only concerts were heavily paroled by morality police meaning attendees were not permitted to dance or sing along, instead forced to sit in silence. It was then that Gola reached the end of her own line, realising that her only chance at establishing a lasting career in music was to leave everything behind - her home, her family, her friends - and live and work in exile. Moving to London Gola enrolled on a Music Psychology MA and worked tirelessly to make her dream a reality, spurred on by her do or die attitude and belief in the power of change.
About the song, she explains,'“There is always a stage in your life when you say “enough is enough” and you make a change to reclaim your power. "The Line” is a metaphor that is deeply personal but at the same time I feel that everyone can relate to its meaning. The overriding message is about the power of women, unity and the strength inside each of us. So many women today don’t have the chance to have their voice heard and I feel that I have the responsibility as an artist to be a voice for them, while also staying true to myself.”

INDIAN ENTRY REVEALED we love you dennis (and alper) xoxo
A few days ago, the Indian broadcaster AIR officially confirmed their participation in the Associate Broadcasters Final, an event organized by the North Broadcasting Union to unite several countries around the world with music in Malmö. Let us present our entry... HEART RATES by Chrms ft. Zoya! This dark-pop track produced by Veer Kowli (Chrms) and written by Zoya Mohan isn't a song you'd expect to be a product of the Indian music industry. It has a dark, edgy feel to it with an almost hypnotising sound which is sure to lure listeners in. "I do a lot of collabs. But this one, I will never forget. The lyrics and all the visual beauty... This song was a magical one." Zoya, the featured singer on this track.“I have had the pleasure to work with some very talented people, and a lot of time and heart went into this. So happy to finally begin showing you this project!” Chrms, the producer of the track. Exchanging heart rates never ends pretty in this city Always leaves you empty But I feel gravity, gravity giving Gravity giving something to me To me But I'm not ready Love, I need to grow up without you.
We wish both Chrms and Zoya good luck in Hong Kong and hope to secure a place in the final of the 30th edition of the North Vision Song Contest in Malmö.

Malaysia Confirms KUALA LUMPUR, 01 December 2019
Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) officially announced their confirmation to take part in the second ever Associate Broadcasters Final (ABF). This event will determine which country will join in on the festivities of the main event, the North Vision Song Contest. The winner of the ABF will be directly qualified into the Grand Final of the predominantly European event.
In the previous ABF, RTM had high hopes to send Che'Nelle to Tirana, where NVSC #20 was schedule to be held. The Malaysian-Australian singer strutted her way to a fierce second place, ultimately losing to G.E.M. of Hong Kong.
Ten editions later, Malaysia is determined to take their success in the previous ABF one step further. WIth that said, RTM is prepared to announce their entry.
Presenting...
NADIA NAIR Nadia Nair was born and raised near Gothenburg to a Swedish father and Malaysian-Indian mother. Ever since childhood, she travels to Malaysia every year as a way to explore her cultural roots. Her multi-cultural background defines her identity as a singer. Her eccentric style comes from her constant experimentation of different sounds. She’s neither Swedish nor Asian. She’s neither pop nor psychedelic. She’s neither world nor electronic. In fact, she’s ALL those things at once. For Nadia it’s always been about the clash; atmospheric guitars, which borrows tones from oriental scales; chaos creates harmonies; hard 90’s vibes meet warm tropical vocals; bass heavy beats are fed with raw soul and mantras.
Despite being eligible to join Fantasifestivalen, this under-the-radar artist has not been able to take part in Sweden's biggest music competition... at least not yet. She hopes to win the ABF and represent Malaysia in her home country Sweden, where the next NVSC will be held. "It would be the best of both worlds," she said.
"Hardships" - Nadia Nair 2:28+
LYRICS
Come lay your head right here on my shoulder Come lay your head right here on my shoulder I'll carry you, heavier than a mountain These are the HARDSHIPS sail on sun ghost ship For you went deeper than me when I swam down Through the floor in the sea You won't jump than me when I fell down For you I made us off the street Lay believe For you I made us off the street Believe in me For you I made us off the street For you went deeper than me when I swam down Through the floor in the sea Water filled my lungs but I sang out Brought this damn town down to its knees
You and me! When I say that we're gonna be okay You and me! When I say that we're gonna be okay
Come lay your head right here on my shoulder Come lay your head right here on my shoulder I'll carry you, heavier than a mountain These are the HARDSHIPS sail on sun ghost ship For you went deeper than me when I swam down Through the floor in the sea Water fill my lungs but I sign out Bump just gonna kill your beat
You and me! When I say that we're gonna be okay You and me! When I say that we're gonna be okay Leave with me When I say that we're gonna be okay
(x2) Come lay your head right here on my shoulder Come lay your head right here on my shoulder I'll carry you, heavier than a mountain
Nadia Nair is set to perform her song "Hardships" in the ABF. Below is a statement explaining her thoughts about the song.
RTM and all of Malaysia wishes Nadia Nair the best of luck and a great victory in the ABF.

Canadian Entry Reveal! After getting invited to participate in the ABF, Canada has finally found the act that will fight for a spot in the 30th edition of Northvision, held in Malmö.
That act is... . . POESY with "Body Language"
POESY is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new Canadian voices. Influenced by innovative enigmatic artists like Kate Bush and Freddie Mercury, as well as 90s alternative rock queens PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, and Alanis Morissette, the Toronto-based artist has formed a gritty and unmistakable sound that demands to be heard. Pairing inspiration from her favourite novels with vulnerable confessions from her own life, POESY’s dark and powerful alt-rock rhythms makes it possible to dance and cry and wonder and hope all at once.
