Coronavirus update from Iceland & Faroe Islands: Iceland's total case number has risen to 180 with the first case confirmed in Norðurland eystra (my region). Only 3 of these are in hospital and only 1 is seriously ill. Mass gatherings have now been banned, with schools and swimming pools closed.
Faroese cases have jumped from 3 to 18 in the last few days with a few cases. Apparently according to a friend of mine there some lady came back to the Islands from UK or Denmark and taught at a kindergarten before realising she was ill, explaining the jump. 1% of the Faroese population have been tested while borders close for a month starting tommorow.

We cannot go outside unless we have to over here and thank god for that cause there are still millions of idiots who are running around the world thinking it's just a worse flu.

I mean, thats exactly what it is, in fact some people I know who've caught it say its even milder than having flu. But as its a new illness we have to be careful as there is no vaccine to protect the at-risk folks like regular flu. I think full lockdown maybe is slightly drastic but if it works, then thats a good thing

These parents are right, they won't take the risk to contaminate their whole family.

We had a TA meeting about it today and told to be prepared to close but keep going as normal at the moment.

French statistics are going to be less reliable - and I suppose it will be the same for other European countries: Translation: How many cases are there today? Because of increasing number of cases, systematic research of contacts became useless. Testing every patient with symptoms would lead to overwhelm the screening capacities. Screening is only used in order to take immediate measures about severe cases or collective structures for vulnerable persons.

all UK Scouting has just been suspended That is my Tuesday and Thursday evenings gone. Also the first of my many summer events has been cancelled as well. I expect them all to be to be honest. Somehow don't think I will be going to Poland with 12000 other scouts from all over Europe.
