I do wonder how long this shit is gonna drag on for... And if they cancel Þjóðhátíð this year I'll be so fucking pissed, they even held it when a volcano went off on the island it takes place on This is gonna take a while... today is the first day they do a test vaccine in USA. If we believe the articles, then you can expect 12-18 months from now for the vaccine to be ready to go viral... other articles say that it will be at least this year, if everything goes to plan without any delays or faults. And that's the best scenario... If these measures taken right now work fast enough, then maybe in summer some events might happen (probably still without audience), but don't get your hopes too high... I don't want to jinx anything, but I suspect Eurovision will be postponed to some point in autumn... maybe I'm too pessimistic, but imo it seems, that the first half of this year will be pretty much like it is now and only in 2nd half of the year we might slowly return back to somewhat normal life (although not fully, because fully will be possible only when the vaccine is ready, unless some miracle happens)

Iceland & Faroe Islands Update Iceland: Today Iceland's cases have shot up to 247 in total. however this is likely due to general testing being drastically increased to spot more asymptomatic cases. 5 of the first cases are now confirmed to have recovered. Tragically we have also reported the first death in Iceland, an Australian man in his 30's, however he was previously admitted to hospital for a different condition it is not believed it was actually COVID-19 which killed him. Regardless, condolences to his family and may he rest in peace
Faroe Islands: The day the Faroese border to the world shut to all but emergency traffic was also the day the Faroese case count soared from 18 to 47, incredibly high considering the country has a small population. Once again this is due to extremely high levels of testing and we hope the patients here are able to recover fine.

Iceland: he was previously admitted to hospital for a different condition it is not believed it was actually COVID-19 which killed him. It's not COVID-19, that kills people... at least not mostly... I'd say at least 95% of people (if not all), that have died, had some other health issues and COVID-19 only added to it, which lead to the body being too weak to fight it hard enough... as a proof - look at all those, who recovered. If it was COVID-19 to blame, they'd all be dead (or most of them), but they're not, because their immunity was strong enough to fight it... so the main thing here is immunity and other health issues you have (Excessive drinking/smoking also could be counted as health issues). If you don't have anything too serious, that weakens immunity, then you'll survive even if you catch this virus...

If we count territories, don’t have it yet so still a few left Isle of Man is just following the "if we don't test anyone we can't have any cases" path from what I heard, they've tested 30 people and cancelled the motorbike races but nothing else Also Gibraltar is down now to its last active case, hopefully they will be free of it soon

We have 71 so far, but... About 5000 latvians returned home from different countries last night and only 65 decided to test themselves right away in airport. Most of these people are coming back from UK or Norway... I guess we're not done yet here and the number might fly up very soon, because I know, that between those 5000 people there are some stupid people, who won't do self-quarantine for 14 days (as our government has ordered), but will go out and do stupid things.. I know that, because we already had some stupid things done by people... those kind of people only learn, when they catch it and get really sick themselves...
