I think that we reached the peek of the epidemic in Lombardy. I wouldn't say the same thing about New York. Two weeks ago, I said:
Unfortunately that scenario didn't occur in a medium American city, but in New York. The whole State has been lockdowned but unfortunately that decision was made too late. When we see at what speed the number of cases is growing, we can be sure that what will happen in New York in the following days will be far worse than anything we saw until now. More people might die in New York than in the rest of the world. I saw that US Army planned to transform hotels and other buildings into temporary hospitals for a total capacity of 10000 people but these capacities will be completely overwhelmed before the end of the week. If I had to manage the crisis in the USA, I would transform the whole JFK airport and all the hotels in the neighbourhood into a giant temporary hospital and bring dozens of thousands of doctors and paramedics from the whole country (militars and civilians) and ask for international help. I would choose this area because it's a big infrastructure with a lot of rooms but also because it's basically an airport, and air transportation is the only solution to the logistic equation of such a massive hospital. Of course, all the civilian flights at JFK would be cancelled. US Air Force would provide the required planes.

Wow, didn't realise New York was getting so bad.... USA left it too late and I fear UK and specifically London is sleepwalking in the same trap

I didn't want to say anything at first, because I hear to much of it already. But now I just am really frustrated.
Last week I had a week off from work, which was kinda nice until I got a cough, and soon after I got a little cold, but no fever. Had to stay inside the whole week. Just to be sure. Our government chose for group immunity, meaning we won't get in a lockdown but they want to spread it evenly so the hospitals don't get too full. If you had a dry cough, fever, cold or/and one other thing i forgot you have to stay at home. I got well after a few days. Then you see on the news and on the internet in the past weekend that people literally shit on every measures our government gave, even some that didn't feel 100% well.
So today I had work again, I work in a grocery store which is a vital job. Half the people didn't even took the effort to keep the 1,5m distance. Almost drove you over with the shopping cart. People here are so careless, I literally can't. They are not doing anything to prevent it from spreading. Cause us the people with the vital jobs to be in danger. Tonight they gave new and stricter measures, like a ban on gatherings for more then 3 people. But also under if you don't follow the 1,5m rule. They even said that people should not make grocery shopping a family trip which they did up till tonights speech, I am curious what they will do tomorrow. All gatherings no matter the size are forbidden up till the 1st of June. And they can fine you now.
Statistics of the Netherlands as of today 14.00 CET Confirmed cases: 4749 Deaths: 213
If they keep behaving like the did last weekend, we will be in a total lockdown soon. I hope people finally think and see that they can't continue to behave like they do, it's putting them in danger but also the people around them.
For me as a person, I am kinda happy that my holiday is over, because thoughts were really getting to me. And I am more distracted at work. Even tho that sounds weird as I see a lot of people on a daily bases there. At least we have the permission to correct the people their behavior in our store.
I hope this all will be over soon. And we all will be there after safe and healthy.

ProBoards has issued a network-wide notice to all administrators stating that it is forbidden for any fake information on the coronavirus to be spread on any of its forums. As such, it is the staff's duty to let our members know of this new policy.
Before you post any information, PLEASE make sure that it is:
- Official. It must have been given by a source that is trusted, or otherwise perceived to be trustable, such as a national government or an NGO focusing on the coronavirus. Sites like worldometers which compile information from official sources are fine too. - NOT speculative. You are of course allowed to give your own opinions on what could happen, but do not back it up with sources that simply cannot be proven.
And of course, do not encourage or incite any fearmongering, and absolutely do not encourage people to go against any official advice which will undoubtedly put the health of not only yourself, but also that of others and your loved ones at risk.
Stay safe! We'll pull through.
This notice will be tagged to the first post for future reference.

Mexican update: the classes oficially stopped last week, and some colleges began 'online classes'. However, I live in a touristic city, and unfortunately many people took this as a regular vacation, I saw a lot of tourists this Sunday just arriving from other parts of the country. All of this while we passed the 300 confirmed cases and there are 4 already confirmed deaths. I'm afraid people is really stubborn and think this whole COVID-19 thing is just a 'political play' and that it's just a 'false alarm, it's just a flu, more people die of diabetus, etc etc'. So yeah, I'll just lock myself inside and hope this doesn't gets as bad as in other countries. Due to security issues (related to violence) and the weak mexican economy, there's a huge debate whether the country should completely stop or not, it'd indeed be a huge problem if everything closes (I mean, if this gets worse it'll eventually be the case). Mexico just can't stop its economy without damaging its citizens badly, to the point that there could be deaths, considering each day some people get JUST enough to eat for the day from what they worked, if they don't work then it means they just won't eat, and it's just as drastic and cruel as it sounds.

UPDATE from Latvia (and from Baltic countries): In Latvia there have been officially registered 197 cases, no deaths, 1 recovered. Estonia has almost double official cases of what we have (369, no deaths, 7 recovered), while Lithuania has officially confirmed 187 cases, 1 death, 1 recovered. I've followed the numbers in Baltic countries from the beginning and it seems, that Lithuania will soon get past Latvia in the number of cases, because they are coming closer and closer day by day. Especially, because they still have a lot of testing to do - there's only about 2700 tests done in Lithuania, while in Latvia - over 6800.

792 confirmed right now, 10 recovered and 1 death I assume by tomorrow we will most likely report well over 800 cases Also the shut down of Helsinki and the whole province of Uusimaa is actually looking much more likely to happen right now, since our police forces do have the rights and preparations ready for it to happen. If or when that happens, lets hope it helps contain this situation here better So far where i live there has been 7 confirmed cases that i have heard of so far. No one needing intensive care or hospital treatment out of them. As said previously too, special laws have been put in place and the goverment is highly thinking of putting a curfew in place because some people have not obeyed the restrictions that have already been put into effect I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will all not explode hard here like it has in many other countries Everyone just keep washing your hands and stay safe united we can get through this all
