Also please keep the people of Ecuador and especially the city of Guayaquil in your thoughts these coming days, they are struggling like almost no other country right now with a huge case rate for their population, a health system which has all but collapsed and people are having to leave dead bodies in the streets and containers and cemeteries and undertakers have been brought to breaking point.

New Zealand - Drastic measures from the first report of community spread. 1 single death. A leader who knows what she is doing. Well done Kiwis. Barely ever post here anymore and have read this thread a couple of times, just wanted to pop in to say something hehe Firstly, I want to be patriotic and say that I truly believe we have dealt with the virus better than anyone else in the world. Do I still think our borders should've shut sooner? Yes, but that doesn't detract from what has been a mammoth of a job in upholding public health whilst taking measures to prevent a complete collapse of our economy. People love to nitpick and say that because we're an island nation with a small population that we have it easy, but that doesn't invalidate the response from the government. While some countries let life go on as normal before things became hellish, we clamped down almost straight away. Also a shoutout to my mother who as an essential worker (s/o to all the other essential workers too) has been busting her ass even more than usual. Positive: China Please don't try to glorify the Chinese response to the virus. It was covered up for around a month and this is part of the reason why the virus is as catastrophic as it is. Sure, governments around the world should have responded to the virus with a lot more urgency that would have prevented unnecessary deaths but this doesn't detract from the fact that China should have had their shit together as soon as it became a problem instead of spreading their propaganda. I also doubt that their methods of dealing with the crisis were exactly ethical either, not to mention they probably haven't learnt their lesson and wet markets will open again. And don't get me started on the speculative case underreporting.

Here is my analysis of the trend by country (I took the countries over the number of cases of Pacific Princess):
- Exponential growth (the number of new cases grows everyday by a roughly constant rate): Russia, Belarus - Accelerating (the number of new cases grows everyday but the growth rate is decreasging) with negative perspective (might become exponential growth): Japan, Ukraine. - Accelerating: USA, UK, Turkey, Brazil, Sweden, India, Ecuador, Norway, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, UAE, Panama, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Singapore, Hungary, Bahrain. - Accelerating with positive perspective (the growth of the number of new cases seems to have stopped but it's still a bit soon for a conclusion): Canada, Chile, Pakistan, Mexico, Finland, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Slovakia. - Linear (the number of new cases is roughly constant) with negative perspective (more new cases have been seen recently but it's still a bit soon for a conclusion): Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland - Linear: Portugal, Israel, Poland, Luxembourg, Greece, Egypt, Algeria, Croatia, Morocco, Moldova, Estonia, Bosnia, Kazakhstan. - Linear with positive perspective (the number of new cases is roughly constant or slowly decreasing for a quite long period or has decreased recently): Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Iran, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Romania, Malaysia, Philippines, Serbia, Qatar, Thailand, South Africa, Argentina, Iceland, New Zealand, Iraq, Slovenia, Lithuania, Armenia. - Decelerating with positive perspective: South Korea. - Extinction: China. - Extinct: none.

Not going to lie but I cannot be the only one incredibly concerned for the economy situation after all this has died down... Especially for back home with the tourism industry all but dead and buried for the year, I was a bit young to remember 2009 well but I know it wasn't pretty and really hope its not a repeat of that

I'm interested in what's happening in actually, our media wrote today about how they don't have any restrictions till this moment, yet they have a low amount of deaths. Can anyone actually confirm that Meanwhile, Bosnia has no more than 30 infected today, month into pandemic, but we can't even go out if we are not alone, if we don't wear a mask we get a 250€* fine from police, and we have nowhere to buy them actually due to this situation. Younger than 18 and older than 65 can't go out at all, and we have police hour from 8 PM till 5 AM every day. Our goverment is too fcking crazy... * - And 250€ is like half of 40% people's montly earnings in

While in Finland (which has strict restrictions) we have 3 064 confirmed cases and 59 deaths (~1,9% mortality rate). So it's kinda fake news to say that they have low amount of deaths. Also, it is very likely that the cases of coronavirus in Finland is way higher due to that only people belonging to risk groups are tested.

I'd definitely not say that we have a low death rate. It was pretty low at first, but it has been climbing ever since, and we're almost reaching 10% (as stated above), and I also feel like the restrictions thing has been handled really poorly as well. While we may take action here and there, compared to the rest of the world, it still feels way too free, with simple recommendations of "washing your hands" and "keeping distance". Not saying that we should completely shut down, but we could honestly do more.
Also, the fact that we were not doing much about event capacities back in March, when MF literally held a total of ~25k people inside the arena, and boom, 3 weeks later, we've restricted everything to a maximum of 50 people, kind of shows why we happen to be the nordic country with the highest causes atm.
