Iceland UpdateCases have increased slower than before today, now up to 90. So far only one of those patients is requiring hospital treatment (a man in his 60s) while one of the first cases has already been declared recovered. 700 people are in quarantine across the country and tests are being increased. Schools are still mostly open afaik but a nursery in Kópavogur south of Reykjavík apparently is on quarantine now due to norovirus instead...
News from other Nordic countries: Norway has seen a huge surge in recent days and today has added a further 229 cases to make it 629, ahead of many bigger nations Denmark also seems to have absolutely exploded up to 514 cases, over half of which came today. Sweden increased much slower today with only 145 new cases (500 in total) but also had the first death in the region Finland is up 19 to 59 cases Faroe Islands has 2 according to my friend there

Ok but can we start a discussion about things we were looking forward to that might be or already got cancelled because of this virus. Safety first tho. Ok Imma start
- I was going to visit a Teen Arts Festival where I live but it's held back until June - I'm pretty sure more things in my school will get cancelled the list is too long - We are all afraid that Eurovision might not happen.
But the point I'm making is that I shouldn't be the only person here looking forward to something for it to be cancelled because of the corona virus. Let's continue this discussion

I'm a bit concerned regarding the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (although its likely to have peaked long before July/August), I'm a huge sports fan and supporter of the Olympic movement so it would be really sad to see that cancelled... Also I'm a little worried for the Icelandic football league which is due to start up properly in a few weeks, afaik the handball is still going ahead and thats indoors so it shouldn't be, but the Faroese leagues have already had postponements and they have far less cases. Seriously speaking now, this next two weeks is going to be most likely the worst part of the outbreak in Europe. Most of us here are young and healthy so have a duty to protect those more vulnerable. If you have elderly relatives in the area you live, try help them out and shopping for them. If you live in an apartment complex with at-risk folk, try disinfect communal surfaces you have to touch. And for fucks sake, please DON'T PANIC BUY EVERYTHING. You do NOT need 5 months of toilet paper or dried pasta for this and its affecting the vulnerable who can't shop as often or independently the most. The virus will soon die down as in China, treatments will be found and normality will return - Until then though we have to play it safe
