North Vision Song Contest 33 • Confirmation Thread

A large selection with me as the Latvian host, that won't happen again. Last time I did that the song that was a large winner was completely destroyed during the betting odds and finished in the bottom 5. And a PQR situation for a country like Latvia is like a direct elimination from next edition - it happened 7 times to Latvia and the country never recovered. The problem I had was that even if I wanted to replace my song at the last minute, I had no clue of which other song of my selection wouldn't be hated as well. All the work I did for that selection was completely wasted and I won't do that again for Latvia. I still don't understand how such a disaster happened and I want to avoid to see that again at any cost.

About this "criticism", there is a difference between sending an overused song and a song that has been used once, that you spotted anyway and that you didn't have time to send before. I don't even know if you are speaking about Aiello - participant of Sanremo but still not overused - Yendry - I didn't notice who used her apart you and me a few years ago - or Valentina Tioli - same as Yendry. So where is the problem? If I needed to criticise the host each time I see an artist or a song I already used, that would be endless. Several hosts in the same country are likely to find the same artists at the same moment. For example I didn't need Julian's help to spot Zoe Wees and he probably didn't need mine to spot Arlissa (and he probably doesn't even know I used her), we both know Germany well enough... I think we can give you credit to know your own country enough to be able to make your own researches instead of copying on other contests - which would probably take more time anyway.
