Austria 2021 • Vincent Bueno - "Amen"

It's a lot better than last year's song, but nothing outstanding either. In fact its also leaning towards boring and is a bit repetitive.
The chorus itself is pretty good, but I particularly dislike the more calm part during the last minute.

All in all I can give it a once the poll opens, but that's probably about it. Also if Vincent doesn't kill the chorus live it'll be hard to qualify with this song ...

I learned tonight (on the radio) that apparently this was - just like the 2018 entry Nobody but you - also a possible Swiss entry.
You may not know about that, but one of the songwriter's Tobias Carshey is actually a singer himself as well. He said in a short radio interview that approximately 2 years ago he was suffering from a writer's block so his manager told him to attend a songwriter camp. He'd somehow end up in a room with some other people where they got Amen done. And it somehow happened that Tobias happened to get into the pool of possible Swiss entries, but lost against Gjon. He didn't appear as he were too disappointed about that lol.

this is just so bland, I just can't seem to like anything that he does sadly (not really, his homophobic *ss can burn)

forgettable ngl. It just doesn't go anywhere really. I feel it tried to be Austria 2018 but it doesn't have any kind of oomph for it to work and hearing it's a reject from 2018 as well it totally makes sense but still a very boring entry from Austria that will likely NQ in my opinion.
