considering that the grand final is happening in less than a month, I might as well share a video of all the songs which are currently features in the radio competition P4 Nästa 2020:What is P4 Nästa? For those who are unaware, each year since (if i remember correctly) 2012, one of the participants included in Melodifestivalen is selected via this radio competition. It's held each year, featuring each county's P4 radio station, roughly meaning around 25 county's participating all together. National selections are held for each county between May to July, and from these 25, a shortlist of 8 will be making it to the actual Grand Final, which is often held in August or September. The Grand Final consists of two rounds: The first is with all 8 participants, and the second is a Gold Final featuring 2 of the selected 8 participants. Before 2015, the winner of the competition was granted the ticket to participate at the coming Melodifestivalen. However, the winner of the Melodifestivalen ticket, and the winner of the radio competition can be two different acts (as seen from 2015+, minus 2018).
For 2020, the shortlisted participants will be revealed on Monday, 23rd of August, while the Grand Final is to be held on Saturday, 12th of September.
With a (subjectively) strong list of 25 acts, we've (well, I've) got one hell of a Grand Final to look forward to

JULIA ALFRIDA GETS THE FIRST SPOT IN MELODIFESTIVALEN 2021
Hailing from Åkersberga, the Stockholm-based singer, Julia Alfrida, has managed to receive the Golden Melodifestivalen ticket at the P4 Nästa competition. While she didn't win the initial radio competition, placing on a merely 6th place out of 8, she managed to impress the juries enough to enter next years Melodifestivalen. The juries were very impressed with her personality, honesty, as well as her contemporary expression, and thus saw her as a worthy candidate for the ticket.
Alfrida had previously shown interest in football as young, but later started showing more affection towards music and songwriting, focusing heavily on strong and personal lyrics. She started releasing songs a couple of years ago, and has already held smaller concerts, and performed at several festivals, including Stockholm Pride. Some of her songs include "HER", "Sober, and her P4 Nästa entry, "Dark Doom". She also released her first EP this year, "EPISODE23", which includes a few of the mentioned songs.
Melodifestivalen 2021 is set to potentially start on the 6th of February, with Alfrida performing in one of the four semi-finals. What are your thoughts? Did the juries pick the right first artist, or did anyone else catch your eye? What reaction have you gotten from Alfrida so far? More Melodifestivalen related news are gonna com with the upcoming rumours around October-November time

A few updates regarding MF 2021:
HALF THE SONGS ALREADY SELECTED
During a tweet made by @mellobackstage yesterday, it was informed that the jury committee has spent their week listening to all 2700+ songs submited, and that the 14 songs have been set in stone for a participation in the coming Melodifestivalen.
The remaining 14 (13, minus Julia Alfrida) will be selected by SVT themselves. It's definitely sure that SVT isn't done selecting their parts, but one can assume that they're already on the hunt for who they want to see participate next year.
SOURCES STATE: NO MELFEST TOUR FOR NEXT YEAR
While this was heavily speculated a month ago, Aftonbladets Tobbe Ek has mentioned that he's received sources saying that there won't be any touring for Melfest next year. One source states that this decision was taken as no city would want to take the risk to spend millions on a massive project just for it to not happen in the end, as well as SVT not wanting to risk selling tickets for people to travel around the entire country while we're currently in a pandemic.
While there wouldn't be a tour, every show will most likely happen in a single arena/studio for all 6 weeks, and the most likely candidate for this would be Stockholm. Where exactly in Stockholm is still unknown, but rumours has it that some considerable places could be Annexet around Globen, or the NEP Studio in Spånga, which entered the rumour mill after TV4s "Swedish Idol" used their own "Audience Wall" where audience members at home could participate as an audience from screens in the arena.
While the possibility of tickets being sold, or there being audiences inside the arena during the shows, both of these are still decisions that are yet to be decided.
Lastly:
SOURCES STATE: DAVID SUNDIN AND OTHERS TO HOST THE 2021 SHOW
Coming once again from Tobbe Ek, sources state that David Sundin will be hosting the coming Melodifestivalen show. Many will remember him as part of the hosting trio from this years Melodifestivalen, together with Linnea Henriksson and Lina Hedlund. SVT widely loved his hosting in 2020, and also favored his hosting in shows such as "Bäst i test", and thus already asked him during the summer to host it once more.
Sources also state that he won't be hosting the 2021 alone, but who will accompany him next year is still relatively unknown.

the wait is finally over [#1]
FIRST THREE ACTS STARTING TO SURFACE
We've been waiting for a while, but the rumour mill for Melodifestivalen 2021 has finally begun, and with three (well, four) names on top of that.
#2 TUSSE
The first name revealed is Tusse Chiza, the latest winner of Swedish Idol in 2019. Tusse is not exactly a surprise in this line-up. During the Eurovision week of Swedish Idol, he floored the juries and the audiences with his cover of "Rise like a Phoenix". Christer Björkman was also apart of the jury during that specific week, which he praised Tusse's performance, and gladly said that he is "very welcome to compete in Melodifestivalen".
Tusse has supposedly been attending several songwriting camps, featuring singers, songwriters, producers & record labels which have been writing songs for Melfest 2021, and SVTs MF management have also sneakily requested songs with an "Idol Winner" in mind, and it seems like one has been found for Tusse.

#3 SANNEX
Second up, we have the dansband group Sannex. Sannex is a band which have technically been active since the late 1970s, but has had several swaps of members throughout their 50 years as a band. Having a couple of chart hitters back in the 1990s, the band has been taken over by a new team in 2013, and has since won several awards, including a Swedish Grammis.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 0 (—)
#4 SAMI REKIK ft. WAHL
Last, but not least, we have a duo, consisting of Sami Rekik, and Wahl. Sami Rekik is no stranger to the Swedish music scene, as he was part of Medina, one of the biggest hip hop duos in Sweden. The duo split up in 2018, but since their debut in 2003, they managed to get several smash hits, including 2011's "Där palmerna bor" and 2013's "Miss Decibel". Medina had previously been anticipated to participate during Melfest 2013/2014, but declined the invitation at the last minute, due to ongoing stress with touring. Wahl (real name Christopher Vahlberg) was a part of another hip hop duo, namely SödraSidan. While no big chart hitter have been recorded by them, they have still produced several songs through out their 10 year period, and several of them achieving high viewing statistics of over a million, which includes "Södra sidan", "Min hemstad" and "Alla".

As of today, the current list list of acts which are anticipated to participate in the coming Melodifestivalen 2021 are:

LAST YEARS TOP TWO ARE MAKING A RETURN
I don't think any explanation is needed with the title, as sources state that we'll be seeing the two favourites from last year make a return.
#5 THE MAMAS
The Melfest 2020 winners, The Mamas, are looking to make a return after their cancelled Eurovision trip. Making their "debut" at Melfest in 2019 as the backing choir for John Lundvik, The Mamas took Melfest 2020 with storm, winning the whole show just 1 point behind the runner-up, Dotter. Their Eurovision trip, however, was cut very short, as only a week after their victory, the cancellation of Eurovision 2020 was announced, and so did their major debut as a group. While SVT opted not to send them internally, The Mamas have shown interest to return if the right song was given to them, and it shows that they managed to find one, as sources also state that several songs were submitted to them after the cancellation of Eurovision, as well as their upcoming return to 2021.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 1 2020: "Move", 1st
#6 DOTTER
Our silver lady (like, literally, both the bling bling clothing and the silver medal), Dotter, is making a return for the third time. Having previously written songs for Melfest in the past (including Mariette's "A Million Years"), she made her artist debut in 2018 with "Cry". Despite being a favourite to qualify, she unfortunately fell short in the semi, ending at a 6th place, not even making it to the second round. She continued to write Lina Hedlund's "Victorious" in 2019, before returning as an artist in 2020 with "Bulletproof", where she qualified from her semi, quickly became an odds favourite, and finished in 2nd place in a nerve wrecking result showcase, being just 1 point behind of the winners. Having partaken in several songwriting camps during summer and early autumn, Dotter aims to try bringing the same success in 2021 as she did with "Bulletproof", which a source describing Dotter's song to be "a certain competitor for the high placements".
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 2 2018: "Cry", 6th in Semi 2020: "Bulletproof", 2nd
Currently, 6 acts have been announced, meaning 22 are left to be known.
