THREE RETURNEES APPROACHING
Rumours are coming in hot after a long break, and all three are previous participants on top of that, namely:
#7 JESSICA ANDERSSON
Sweden's own party mother, Jessica Andersson, is looking to make her 8th appearance in the competition in 2021. She made her debut back in 2003 together with Magnus Bäcklund in the duo "Fame", where she won Melfest with "Give Me Your Love", and later ended 5th at Eurovision. She made several other attempts in the future, which also includes her latest attempt in 2018 with "Party Voice", ending at an 11th place in the Grand Final. Her song is also looking to be in the same modern schlager genre as the previous ones we've seen, according to sources.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 7 2003: "Give Me Your Love" (with Fame), 1st 2004: "Vindarna vänder oss" (with Fame), 6th 2006: "Kalla nätter", 5th in Semi 2007: "Kom", lost in the Second Chance 2010: "I Did It For Love", 8th 2015: "Can't Hurt Me Now", 11th 2018: "Party Voice", 11th
#8 KLARA HAMMARSTRÖM
The horse-crazed lady herself, Klara Hammarström, wants to get her revenge after her non qualification in 2020. Klara has a passion for horse cavalry, and has also partaken in the TV-show "Familjen Hammarström", dedicated to her entire family. She started her music career a few years ago, before making her Melfest debut in 2020 with "Nobody", but only managed to end 5th in the semi final, missing the second chance.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 1 2020: "Nobody", 5th in Semi
#9 ALVARO ESTRELLA
The Swedish-Chilean dancer, Alvaro Estrella, wishes to make his second appearance in the Grand Final. Alvaro made his first Melfest appearance as a singer in 2014 with "Bedroom", but did not finish higher than 6th place in the semi, missing the second round. However, he's made several appearances as a backing dancer and backing vocalist, both in Melfest as part of Saade's "Popular" and Saucedo's "Amazing", as well as Eurovision, which include the likes of ex. Sergey Lazarev's "You Are The Only One" in 2016. He made his second attempt at Melfest as a singer in 2020, featured in Mendez's "Vamos amigos", making it to the Grand Final through the second chance and finishing on an 11th place.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 2 2014: "Bedroom", 6th in Semi 2020: "Vamos amigos" (with Mendez), 11th
9 revealed, 19 left to go. and now that Aftonbladet has decided to make each rumour article pay-to-read, I'll be harder for me to reveal the smaller details, but I'll try my best anyways

Btw. how did Can't hurt me now and especially Party voice place only 11th? "Can't Hurt Me Now" imo is one of Jessica's weakest MF entries, and honestly it probably would not have made it to the Grand Final immediately in the first place if it wasn't for the fact that she just happened to participate in the semi where the app literally crashed for the first three entries, thus making her chances larger. Her 11th place in the final was rather justified, if you asked me. And while I believe "Party Voice" was hella robbed, the fact that she lowered the pitch of the song in the final so she could sing it without major mistakes (as she struggled with reaching a lot of the notes during the semi) probably put a lot of people off from the song, and thus it didn't gain that much votes as it would have if she did the OG pitch instead. That's my thoughts on that, at least ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Her 11th place in the final was rather justified, if you asked me. Tbh. I agree. Looking at the other songs competing in that (semi-) final Can't hurt me now definitely wouldn't have qualified had everything went correctly. And with "other songs" I'm not referring to Hello Hi ... Same for the final btw. Songs like Don't stop, Make me la la la, Don't stop believing or even Met mig I Gamla Stan were definitely stronger so 11th is actually a good ranking for Jessica that year.

She did what? However also Party voice was probably the 5th best song there imo. But I also guess it's more like a fun song than a serious Eurovision attempt lol. That's my thoughts on that, at least ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Can't say that I disagree too much. Btw. thanks for your essay because I wasn't even expecting any answers lol.

TWO RETURNEES AND ONE CHASE
Earlier today, more rumours emerged from Aftonbladet, featuring two likely appearing acts, as well as an act still in doubt.
#10 PAUL REY
Paul Rey is looking to achieve greater heights in his second appearance in Melodifestivalen! Despite being active with music since 2015, and having connections with people such as Quincy Jones and whatnot Snoop Dog, Paul was always under-the-radar when it came to recognition. It was then that he tried his chances at Melodifestivalen this year with the song "Talking in My Sleep", which managed to make it through the second chance, and land on a solid 6th place. Considering how the Corona crisis halted Paul's many live gigs through out 2020, he seeks to try a redemption in his potential coming appearance in Melfest 2021.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 1 2020: "Talking in My Sleep", 6th
#11 ARVINGARNA
The Kings of Dansaband, Arvingarna, are trying to bring another party to the Melfest scene! Having been active with music since 1989, Arvingarna have taken the dansband scene in Sweden with storm, being one of the most recognizable bands in that genre. They made their very first appearance in Melodifestivalen in 1993 with "Eloise", winning a very historical year where televoters were introduced for the first time. They made several appearances in Melodifestivalen after that, before taking a break during the mid 2000s, before returning in early 2010s and continuing their work. They made their latest appearance in Melodifestivalen 2019 with "I Do", making it from the second chance, and placing on a solid 7th place in the Grand Final.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 5 1993: "Eloise", 1st 1995: "Bo Diddley", 6th 1999: "Det jag svär på", 3rd 2002: "Ingenting är större än vi", 6th in Semi 2019: "I Do", 7th
ON THE HUNT: ERIC SAADE
After hosting the show in 2019, SVT has had their eye on having him return as a participant. He already turned down a 2020 invite, but it looks like there is a possibility for 2021 to be a reality. Some sources state that he is already in the list of participants, but a bunch of others says completely different things. One source mentions that there is a song which could be the potential Melodifestivalen entry, and that it is also a fairly good one, on top of that. However, same source states that it's all up to what Eric thinks about participating, whether it is the right time to participate, or whether it's the right thing to do. In any case, until further sources show up with clear information to Aftonbladet, Eric will be staying up as a 50-50 participant.
And thus, 17 are left.

NAME CONFUSION IN THE MAKING?
With just about a week until SVT reveals the 28 participants for the 2021 Melodifestivalen, Aftonbladet still have a lot of names to drop before the press conference in late November. However, a new article was made today, providing both a more likely confirmed act, alongside a mixed one.
#12 LOVAD
The newcomer, Lovad, is ready to shine at her Melfest debut!
Lovad, real name Lova Drevstam Karlsén, debuted as a singer in mid-2019, with her old artist name I:AM. She changed to Lovad during late-2019 to Lovad (meaning Promised), as a tribute to two dear friends who lost in the past, motivating that "everyone cannot be saved, but that you can still be there for them until the calm of the storm".
Her song is said to be written by both Albin Johnsén and Mattias Andréasson, which have both previously participated in Melodifestivalen several times. Sources state that her entry is a very "chorus-strong pop song which requires a strong vocalist, something which is perfect for Lovad".
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 0
CURRENTLY SPECULATED ON: LOVA
Several sources claim that Lova Sönnerbo, mostly known as Lova, has secured a place in the upcoming Melodifestivalen. However, other sources are also skeptical over her participation, as they're not sure if negotiations have yet to finish. It does seem like her recording label are really trying to invest on Lova commercially, so a Melfest debut would not be out of the window.
Many of you may recognize Lova, as she represented Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest back in 2012 with "Mitt mod", getting a 6th place in the end. It wasn't until 2018, however, that she started with her music career more seriously, releasing her first single "You Me and The Silence", which did well on the radios. She has since then been slowly releasing songs, and has even been nominated for "Artist of the Future" at the P3 Guld Galan.
With the press conference more or less happening next week, we still have 16 names left to be speculated about. Will Tobbe Ek manage to reveal most of them prior to it, or will there be a lot of surprises awaiting us? Only time will tell.

THE DREAM OF A TEENAGE GIRL - THREE MORE REVEALED NAMES
With just around a week until a potential press conference from SVT regarding, Aftonbladet has just about the same amount of time to reveal as many acts as possible. Today, they managed to reveal a couple more prior to the press conference.
#13 ERIC SAADE*
The previously rumoured artist seems to possibly make his return in the 2021 competition! Having previously been rumoured, Aftonbladet have found enough sources strong enough to put him in the participation list. Most of these sources, however, state that his participation is mostly due to Björkman close relation to MF and Eric, as well as how Björkman would want him to participate, making it a highly possible chance that negotiations between SVT and Eric will be spotless. This doesn't mean that Eric is 100% in the game yet, but it's something that Aftonbladet seems to be sure about, and thus I'll put him in there as well (with a small asterix, to be sure).
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 3 2010: "Manboy", 3rd 2011: "Popular", 1st 2015: "Sting", 5th
#14 DANNY SAUCEDO
One of the best scoring acts in the past of Melodifestivalen, Danny Saucedo, wishes to give the contest a 4th try! Danny Saucedo made his Melfest debut in 2009 as part of the group E.M.D, which marked the start of his high placing participation in the coming years. The group managed to finish on a respectable 3rd place in the 2009 Grand Final, achieving a massive hit across the country alongside it. He returned back to the contest in 2011 and 2012 as a soloist, with the songs "In The Club" and "Amazing". With both attempts, he managed to successfully place as the runner up, just losing out to Eric Saade's "Popular" and Loreen's "Euphoria". After that, he hosted the 2013 competition together with Gina Dirawi, before returning to work with his music career. It wasn't until 2015, where he made the sudden shift to sing in Swedish, that his songs slowly started charting in Sweden. Many of these hits include "Brinner i bröstet", "Dör för dig", "Snacket på stan", "Super 8", "Tänker på dig" and "Hon är min". With the sudden rise of popularity, Danny seems to have a will to make a return to the Melodifestivalen scene, a whole 10 years after his last attempt in 2012. Sources also state that Danny himself contacted Björkman with the proposal of a song he wishes to compete with, which shows the confidence he has with his return.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 3
2009: "Baby Goodbye" (as part of E.M.D), 3rd 2011: "In The Club", 2nd 2012: "Amazing", 2nd
#15 ANTON EWALD
The two-time participant, Anton Ewald, seems to make his return to the contest after 7 years! Anton may have started his MF debut in 2013 with "Begging", finishing 4th in the Grand Final, but he had previously made appearances as a dancer behind many songs. His first sighting was in 2009, where he was a dancer behind Velvet's "The Queen", and his last appearances being 2012 for Danny Saucedo's "Amazing" and Andreas Lundstedt's "Aldrig Aldrig". After his 2013 debut, he returned to the competition in 2014 with "Natural", qualifying to the Grand Final, but landing at an 12th, finishing last overall. He released a couple of singles up to 2017, but has since then disappeared from the music scene. Will his 2021 return showcase a new side of him, or will we be seeing the same regular Anton as in his Melfest debut? Only way to find out is in February.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 2
2013: "Begging", 4th 2014: "Natural", 12th

THREE NEW NAMES REVEALED
#16 TESS MERKEL
The former Alcazar member is making her solo debut in Melodifestivalen! Tess Merkel is one of the original five members of one of the most popular music groups in Sweden, Alcazar! Their many Melodifestivalen participations resulted in many high places, as well as well charted songs in Sweden. Outside of Melodifestivalen, the band themselves have songs which charted well outside of Sweden, which include "Crying at the Discoteque" and "This is the World We Live In". The band disbanded in 2018, and the remaining three members went their separate ways to focus on their own things. After Lina Hedlunds participation in the 2019 contest, it seems that it is now time for Tess to make her appearance at Melfest as a soloist.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 5 2003: "Not a Sinner, nor a Saint" (with Alcazar), 3rd 2005: "Alcastar" (with Alcazar), 3rd 2009: "Stay the Night" (with Alcazar), 5th 2010: "Headlines" (with Alcazar), lost in the Second Chance 2014: "Blame It on the Disco" (with Alcazar), 3rd
#17 KADIATOU
The Idol runner-up is looking to improve her music career with her Melodifestivalen debut! Her music career started at the early age of 16, where she started her participation in Swedish Idol in 2018, where she managed to become the runner-up. After that, Kadiatou slowly produced more and more songs to this day, her latest being a cover of a traditional Christmas song, "White Christmas". Just like many other Idol participants, it seems like Kadiatou herself wishes to also boost her career by giving Melodifestivalen a shot.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 0
#18 EFRAIM LEO
The young shooting star is embracing his Melodifestivalen debut! Starting in 2018, Efraim Leo slowly developed a music career, with a few singles up his sleeves. He has been noticed by many people already, and it also looks like SVT themselves have tried to get him into the competition for a few years, and it may look like 2021 may be his year to shine.

A RETURNING WINNER AND A THEATRICAL DUO
Yesterday, prior to the reveal of the 7th post, another newspaper site, Expressen, revealed a few rumours that came as a surprise to a few. While I myself considered these rumours to be a bit farfetched, Aftonbladet could today reveal that three out of the four acts in the Expressen rumour list are in fact highly plausible.
#19 CHARLOTTE PERRELLI
The two time winner is aiming for a third victory! Charlotte always had a dream to win Melodifestivalen, ever since Carola won it in 1983 with "Främling", when Charlotte was merely 9 years old. Charlotte had been part of several Dansband bands prior to her very first Melodifestivalen debut in 1999 with "Tusen och en natt", where her dream came to be. Traveling all the way to Israel, Charlotte managed to achieve something higher than her initial dream, winning the Eurovision Song Contest, granting Sweden their 4th victory. She later hosted the contest twice between 2003 and 2004, before returning once again in 2008 as a competitor with "Hero". She, too, won that year, and went to represent Sweden in Serbia, only to achieve a 18th place in the Grand Final. She made two more Melodifestivalen participations after that, in 2012 with "The Girl", and in 2017 with "Mitt liv", both which sadly did not qualify from their respective semi. However, it seems like her fifth attempt is upon us, and with something different than her last attempt, as it is described as a "glamorous schlager-pop song".
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS: 4 1999: "Tusen och en natt", 1st 2008: "Hero", 1st 2012, "The Girl", 5th in the Semi 2017: "Mitt liv", 7th in the semi
#20 EWA ROOS & EVA RYDBERG
The theatrical duo is looking to fun-it-up in the coming Melfest edition! Both of these lovely ladies are veterans within the theater scene, starting all the way from the 80s and 50s from each respective lady. Both have been part in several theatrical shows across the country, such as "La cage aux folles", "Grease", "My Fair Lady", "Hon jazzade en sommar" and "Pang i bygget". While this would be the first time Ewa Roos competes, Eva Rydberg actually competed for the first time back in 1977 with "Charlie Chaplin", landing at a calm 7th place.
PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS (by Ewa): 0 PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS (by Eva): 1 1977: "Charlie Chaplin", 7th
And on a short note: Andreas Wijk is also reported to be part of the line-up, but only as a songwriter for one of the selected 28 songs.
