ICELANDIC ENTRY REVEALED!

3 February 2021 • Reykjavík, Iceland

After over a month of rumours and speculation within the country,

RÚV is finally ready to reveal who will represent the Nordic country in the pre-qualification round, and eventually, hopefully in

St. Petersburg. The

Icelandic broadcaster decided to choose their entrant internally this time due to the pre-qualification round, and revealed their entry in Wonderful Wednesday, a collaboration between 5 nations (

), headed by the

Georgian delegation. We thank them for the invitation and also thank the other broadcasters who took part in the show.

With that being said, let's meet our participant!

MEET ULTRAFLEX!

Ultraflex are an

Icelandic-Norwegian duo consisting of solo artists

Farao and

Special-K. The pair met in

Berlin when they both lived there and had mutual artistic crushes on each other. The opportunity to collaborate arose when they were hired to make a piece for the Scandinavian electronic music festivals Insomnia and Extreme Chill in 2019. After a few short, intense writing sessions in the remote Westfjords of Iceland, the arctic Tromsø and Berlin, they managed to construct their sound, image and debut album.

The duo have been praised for their unique style of incorporating sounds reminiscent of the 80s in their songs, and indeed their unique style of videos, which give the feels of Soviet aerobics in the 80s, most of which are directed by fellow

Norwegian pop artist OKAY KAYA. Their live performances also incorporate exercise routines that are performed in synchronization.

Their song for this edition is taken right from their debut album, Visions of Ultraflex, which was released in 2020. It has been described as a bold and seductive song with sensual vocals and bratty lyrics, and this works very well resulting in a true disco whopper, according to the

Icelandic head of delegation. When asked about being selected for the pre-qualification round,

Farao stated on behalf of the duo that:

It is of course an honour to compete in North Vision Song Contest although it seems a bit weird for me that I am representing Iceland and not my home country of Norway. However, both of us are looking forward to the upcoming edition, where we will hopefully travel to Russia if we qualify to the semi-finals. We're so excited!

Tbilisi, 3rd February: After much anticipation and a long internal process, the Georgian broadcaster, GPB, has finally revealed our contender for the pre-qualification Round. Introducing Lizi Japaridze!

Lizi Japaridze is no stranger to the Georgian music industry. Despite being only 16 years old, and thus being one of the youngest singers to ever take part in this contest, she has been involved with music ever since 2011. The song she will be singing in the pre-qualification round and hopefully in Saint Petersburg in

Russia is called Toxic World. The song is written and produced by Giga Kukhianidze, who has worked with Lizi several times before.

It is time for the official announcement, the winner of the 14th Äwenfestivali is...

STRANIZA (Real name: Ksyusha Chumachenko , Cyrillic: Ксения Чумаченко) is a singer from the russian oblast of Rostov-on-Don, she competed as foreign act in the Äwenfestïvali 35, and managed to win over the six Kazakh acts. This marks the second representative by a foreign act for Kazakhstan, the first one being

Sasha Holiday, placing 4th in the NVSC19. STRANIZA rose fame in both

Russia and

Kazakhstan after her participation in the Russian singer competition "Песни".

The show, which was hosted without public due to the worldwide pandemic, was viewed by 1,8 million people live from the Gakku TV studios in Nur-Sultan.

But even though being a foreign act, she is still linked with Kazakhstan, as the music video of her song "Horizon" was shot in Mangystau region, Kazakhstan. The actions of the video took place in four different locations of Kazakhstan, adding a special flavour and complexity to the plot. Numerous bright looks of the singer were shining with new colours in duo with delicate shades of nature. The video was not only inspiring and insanely beautiful, but it also showed the artist in a new light. After a close-up of the musician’s clear eyes, it seems like, now we can say that not only we know STRANIZA, but talked frankly with her as well.

Sana to wave the Finnish flag in Saint Petersburg!

After seven weeks, three semi-finals and one grand final, Pohjoisviisut 35 has come to an end with Sana winning the national final. She got 97 points with the song “Seireeni” and won the jury voting. Second place went to Runo with “Rajat”. Runo won the televoting* and was just 2 points behind Sana.

Sana started her music career in 2005 by releasing rap music on the internet as a hobby. She participated in X Factor Finland in 2018, where she got eliminated in the first live show.

The song “Seireeni” (lit. Siren) was created from anger, bitterness and revenge. Sana told in an interview she was cheated during her earlier relationship. “My former partner got lost to a wrong bed lots of times. The chicks knew about me and yet they still went for it. I’m just wondering what they'd feel when they’re married, and I’d go f**k their men? - - People should always think things from their point of view. What if this was done to you?”.
