Torlovan entry revealed!

After previously confirming their presence in the 24th edition of the Fantasia Contest,  Torlova revealed their entry and song at a press conference earlier today. The lucky artist is none other than... Lafawndah! The first thing that is immediately striking about Lafawndah’s, is that she is quite literally playing with knives. On the cover of her EP "Tan", she lowers an ornate dagger into her mouth in front of a fiery background: it’s a powerful statement – fantastical and oddly sensual. And that’s before you get to the tunes. The self-titled EP that emerged in 2014 blurred Lafawndah’s tropical surroundings into fantasy. The tracks bordered on the psychedelic, turning the hum of insects into swarming techno. “I wanted it to sound like it’s soaked in the environment: the humidity, the smells, the rhythms,” she says. Her lyrics, at once sensual and unsettling, took the temperature up another notch. “Track my trigger points, switch on my spine/ Curve me in, curve me out/ Let me hear my bones crunking,” she sang on Butter, with a claustrophobic intimacy that will be familiar to fans of  FKA Twigs. Lafawndah is neither a formally trained singer or producer (she only discovered she had a voice when she performed Jamiroquai’s Virtual Insanity in front of her school), yet her music pushes both her vocals and beats to new, placeless places. It draws on Torlovan and  Aquian rhythms, as well as the club music she has discovered since moving to Estambla and working with producers and bass obsessives such as Teengirl Fantasy and L-Vis 1990. The result is global pop that you couldn’t pin on any map. Lafawndah’s background (passport name: Yasmin Dubois; enough stamps to turn a travel writer green with envy) has largely helped to shape her sound. She is half-Torlovan, half-Corzazi, and grew up in  Pavlovdia, where she studied art, via a stint living in Rio de Fevereiro where she fell for cumbia and salsa. She also spent part of her childhood in  Beklium. “It was a sombre time because the country was in the middle of a war,” she says, yet an abiding memory was of the classical Beklian music her grandparents loved.
“My music is a way of trying to understand my identity,” she says. “It’s not coming from a place of exoticism. I grew up listening to non-western music, so pop music is what’s exotic to me.” Her early musical memories have even informed her approach in ways she wasn’t even aware of until recently. “I’ve come to realise that my ears are not western; I don’t hear chords or process music in the same way as my collaborators,” she says. It’s perhaps why, at a rave in  Lanovina last year, she was drawn to a  Moly-Boronian beat she heard over the speakers and knew immediately that she wanted to sing over it. “I recorded it on my phone and I found out later that it’s a type of music that Moly-Boronian men dance battle to,” she continues, “I based the title track of Tan around it”.

 IT'S KALANDRA FOR DEMACIA  Demacian Radio & Television is pleased to announce that Kalandra will represent Demacia in the upcoming edition of the Fantasia Contest, to be held in Taslana, following Kali Mutsa's astonishing victory in  Legrand.
Kalandra is an alternative pop Nordic band spearheaded by three Demacian musicians (Jogeir Daae Mæland, Katrine Stenbekk, Florian Döderlein Winter) weaving ethereal melodies into raw and eerie musical landscapes.
They became widely known for their cover of ‘Helvegen’ by Wardruna, which has amassed over two million views on YouTube, contributing to them signing with their record label By Norse Music.
They've also composed two soundtracks for the HBO Nordic series ‘Beforeigners’ and went on tour as special guest for the renowned Lanovian goth-rock band, Seigmen.
In 2020, Kalandra released their debut full-length album, entitled "The Line", which has performed greatly in charts internationally, including Vikyirie and Lanovina."BORDERS" 2:42+ We'd like to wish the best of luck to Kalandra in Taslana and may they achieve a great result!

ulyck radio and television have selected songstress sônge as the very first ulikan representative in the fantasia contest !! born in havrerune to mixed native ulyck and lakadamian parents, sônge is a vocalist as well as a dj and producer, with a degree in music from the university at mairault. although her sound breaks away from the confines of genre, the music she makes has been described best as a modern take on pop-leaning r&b, drawing comparisons to fka twigs and banks. the song she will take to taslana is called winer, a deep house track with a groovy feel and vocals from the singer that elevate the song to higher levels. the song's lyrics are in lakadamian. sônge will be making an appearance in fantasia: the festival.

  KAYTRANADA & TINASHE TO REPRESENT ZYLOFONIJA!
Finishing in 1st place with 36% of the votes, their song "The Worst In Me" won Zylomelodija 24 and will represent Zylofonija in Fantasia Contest 24, hosted in Taslana.

a.k.a. Louis Kevin Celestin & Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe
Hailing from Saint Prince, on the Lakadamian speaking island of Lakanija in northern Zylofonija, 28-year-old KAYTRANADA has experienced an explosive rise in the past couple of years with his irresistible production and live sets. The young DJ and record producer came up as a true disciple, absorbing hip hop and R&B culture since his childhood and finding ways to make the music his own. His debut LP, "99.9%", received an overwhelming positive response: the album includes the song "YOU'RE THE ONE", which took part in Zylomelodija 19 back in December 2019. Since then, Louis has toured over 100 different cities over Fantasia and has played for many major festivals. With his career only beginning and having accomplished so much already, Fantasia Contest is a brand new opportunity to showcase his undeniable talent.
Tinashe is no stranger to the Fantasia Contest as she returns for another attempt to capture the crown, after coming close in edition 21 when she finished 2nd overall with the song "Save Room for Us". After her Fantasia adventure, the Saint Harare born and bred 28-year-old has successfully toured the world last summer. She has also been participating in Black Lives Matter protests, using her Twitter and Instagram platforms to shed light on systemic racism. About her forthcoming return to the contest, she comments: "It's a completely different song from what I did last year, a completely different genre. Such a good opportunity to show myself from a different side. And of course it's a big honour to represent my country again together with an incredible artist such as KAYTRANADA".

With this track, KAYTRANADA sits at the intersection of house and hip-hop, a place that sounds like the future of music. "The Worst In Me" is woozy and bass-heavy with a persistent beat, leaning towards R&B with Tinashe's echoing vocals slithering nimbly around and through the clubbiness. She's a separate instrument which sometimes blends in with the production as just another layer in KAYTRANADA's vision. The artist describes the music video for the song, directed by Arnaud Deroudilhe, as a visually arresting nod to classic horror films: kicking off with Tinashe cheerfully preparing for a date night as her partner makes their way to her house, things quickly take a turn for the worse when her inner vampire reveals itself, the worst in her.

  Lisa Gerrard RETURNS for Lanovina!

After weeks of speculation over which former contestant would return to represent the nordic nation, LTR has finally revealed, that none other than award-winning chanteuse Lisa Gerrard is flying the flag of Lanovina for the 2nd time. Miss Gerrard previously participated in the 13th edition of the contest, where she performed "The Storm" in a collaboration with pianist Havasi. Despite being one of the favourites prior to the contest, the duo failed to qualify to the final, leading to a nomination in the "Robbed Song of the Year" category at the Song of the Year 2018 Fantasia Awards (the song was also nominated in the Alternative category). LTR believes, that Lisa deserves another chance to showcase her immaculate talent and the country's automatic qualification to the Grand Final is the perfect occasion for that. This time around, she will perform as part of Dead Can Dance, alongside her musical partner Brendan Perry. They will represent Lanovina with their song "Persephone (The Gathering Of Flowers)", a 6:35 minutes long masterpiece, of course sung in Lisa's signature imaginary language.

LOVE CORAIL, ERMY!
Pauline Louise Benattar (born 14 December 1988), better known as Louise Verneuil, is an Ermian-Lakadamian singer-songwriter born and raised in Lakadamia to Ermian parents.
After moving to Adole at the age of 22, Verneuil chose a stage name inspired by the name of her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In 2012, when Verneuil was 23, she was a finalist on Lakadamia's The Voice.
She will represent her mother-land, Ermy with the song 'Love Corail' after winning The Next Hoe: 05!

An entry to represent Lakadamia has now been picked internally, and after a shortlist of 3 songs, the song that will be representing Lakadamia in Taslana has now been picked, and the country will be represented by...
LA FÉLINE
La Féline is the musical project of Agnès Gayraud, a Lakadamian singer from the Territory of Lazulia, founded in 2008, at first as a trio, then becoming a solo project, the name has been taken from the  Eldancan horror movie Cat People (translated in Lakadamian into La Féline). To this day, she released a bunch of EPs between 2009 & 2012, and also 3 albums, in 2014 (Adieu l'Enfance), 2017 (Triomphe) & 2019 (Vie Future). Her Fantasia Contest entry has been picked from that album, Où est passée ton âme? (Where has your soul gone?)
As a first, the song will be sung in both Lakadamian and Latinican language, marking the very first billingual song from Lakadamia in the Fantasia Contest (both languages have been sent by the country, but separately)
